The city of Arvada was founded in 1870 – making it one of the oldest communities in all of Colorado. During World War II, approximately 100 Japanese Americans were relocated to farms near what would become the modern-day City of Arvada. There are also plenty of outdoor activities available like camping, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding just minutes away from downtown. One theory suggests that Arvada was originally named after Mt. Ararat, the mountain where Noah’s Ark landed according to biblical accounts.
