Most building debris and household junk is fine. The limits come from Nebraska law and from the landfill that receives the load.
Nebraska bans six categories from every landfill in the state. The state environment department's list covers yard waste between April 1 and November 30, waste oil, lead-acid car batteries, household appliances, hazardous waste beyond household quantities, and waste tires. Tires have to go through a permitted waste tire hauler rather than a landfill.
The appliance ban is broader than people expect. It reaches washers, dryers, water heaters, heat pumps, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, freezers, trash compactors, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, stoves, and wood stoves, and any refrigerant has to be recovered first.
The city also points out that the designated landfill will not take tires, batteries, paint, waste oil, or asbestos and lead paint waste at all, so those need a different route entirely.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos stay out of every container we deliver. Ask your account manager about anything unusual before it goes in.
