Prime Dumpster brings dumpster rental in Wyoming to 7 Wyoming cities, from Cheyenne and Laramie to Casper, Gillette, Rock Springs, Douglas and Jackson. Our containers work for ranch and home cleanouts, hail-damage roof jobs, remodels and new construction. We also take on commercial, energy-sector and federal work.

A handful of local conditions set your price. Container size, the debris type, whether the container needs space on a street and the landfill that receives the load all have an effect.

On this page you'll find Wyoming price ranges, permit information, disposal rules and details on the landfills that serve the state.

What Factors Affect Your Dumpster Rental Price?

All rentals share the same foundation. We haul the container to you, it stays for the rental period, and we come back to empty it at the landfill. The specifics of your project build the rest of the price.

Those specifics include the size, the material, the rental length and the job location. A 10-yard dumpster is a good match for dense loads like old concrete, a 20-yard dumpster fits most remodels, and a 40-yard dumpster is made for bulky demolition debris. Heavy loads and longer rentals both push the total higher.

Location matters because Wyoming landfills are run by cities, counties and special districts, and each sets its own tipping fees. That cost becomes part of your quote. In Wyoming the biggest variable is often residency, meaning whether the waste comes from inside the district that runs the landfill.

Two examples of how county disposal differs in practice:

  • The City of Laramie Landfill charges $63.00 per ton for municipal solid waste and the same $63.00 per ton for construction and demolition waste, with a $12.00 minimum.
  • The Rock Springs Landfill, run by Sweetwater County Solid Waste Disposal District #1, charges $35 per ton for building demolition debris from inside the district. Demolition debris from outside the district costs $65 per ton, with a $20 minimum.

In Laramie, sorting construction debris from household trash doesn't change the per-ton rate. In Rock Springs, the address where the debris came from nearly doubles the charge. Knowing which district your job sits in helps you plan the budget.

Always check current fees on the landfill's official page. Your account manager can identify the landfill that serves your address and explain everything that goes into your final quote.

Do I Need a Permit for a Dumpster in Wyoming?

Placing the container on your own property, like a driveway, ranch yard or job site, generally won't call for a permit. Public streets, alleys and sidewalks are different. The government that maintains that road has to give permission before the container arrives.

Wyoming leaves container placement to local rules, and the right authority depends on the road:

  • Along a state highway, the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) controls the right-of-way, and its district offices work with anyone who needs to use it. Contact the district office before setting anything along a state route.
  • In Laramie, the City Engineering permit office issues a Right of Way Obstruction Permit for any temporary blocking of a sidewalk, alley or street for construction. An application fee applies, fees double if work starts before approval, and reviews can take 7 to 14 days. The engineering permits line is 307-721-5250.

Gillette also requires a City Engineer permit before building material is placed in a public way. Plan ahead, because Laramie's review can take up to two weeks. Your account manager can find the office that covers your street and share the contact before delivery.

What Can't Go in a Dumpster in Wyoming

Ordinary household and construction debris usually goes in a Wyoming dumpster without trouble. What stays out mostly depends on each facility's approval, and those approvals follow rules from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

State law requires all solid waste to go to facilities approved by both the DEQ's Solid and Hazardous Waste Division and the local government. Wyoming law also bars anyone from placing a used lead-acid battery in mixed municipal waste, so car and truck batteries go back to a retailer or recycler.

Nationwide, standard landfills refuse hazardous waste, free liquids and friable asbestos. Friable asbestos has to go to a facility with a special permit for it.

Local sites set stricter terms. At the Rock Springs Landfill, rebar, metal framing and other metal must be separated from demolition debris. A load that isn't sorted can be turned away at the entrance or charged a mixed load fee. Businesses there also need an approved general use permit before hauling waste in.

If you're planning to throw out electronics, tires, appliances or anything you're uncertain about, ask your account manager where it belongs before the container gets filled.

Wyoming Landfill Disposal Sites

Wyoming's landfills are run by cities, counties and solid waste districts, each with its own service area. The one that takes your load depends on the location of your job.

The City of Laramie Landfill is at 162 Roger Canyon Road in Laramie. It charges one per-ton rate for household trash and construction debris, and adds a fee for loads that aren't covered or secured.

The Rock Springs Landfill is at 50 County Road 64 in Rock Springs and serves Sweetwater County District #1. It's open every day of the week, with longer summer hours, and you can call the landfill at 307-352-6877.

The Wyoming DEQ's Solid and Hazardous Waste Division regulates community landfills and transfer facilities across the state. When you schedule, your account manager confirms the landfill assigned to your address and any special material rules it applies.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Wyoming?

In Wyoming, a standard five-day rental generally costs $399–$499 for a 10-yard dumpster and $699–$899 for a 40-yard. Your price depends on the container size, the type of debris and the landfill that accepts the load. Your account manager confirms tonnage and overage rates before you book.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Wyoming?

Not from the state. A dumpster on your driveway or private land usually needs no permit. One on a public street does, from WYDOT along a state highway or from the city on local streets, like Laramie's Right of Way Obstruction Permit. Your account manager can help you find the right office.

What can't go in a dumpster in Wyoming?

Hazardous waste, free liquids, friable asbestos and used lead-acid batteries are kept out of Wyoming trash loads. Some landfills add rules, such as Rock Springs requiring metal to be separated from demolition debris. An unsorted load there can be rejected or charged a mixed load fee.

Why does dumpster rental cost vary from one Wyoming county to the next?

Each city, county or district landfill sets its own rates. Laramie charges one rate for trash and construction debris. Rock Springs charges in-district demolition debris far less than debris from outside the district. Where your job sits can change disposal costs a lot.

Can I put tires in a Wyoming dumpster?

It's best to keep them separate. Wyoming landfills usually charge for tires individually, often by size, rather than including them in your debris weight. Laramie, for example, prices tires per tire. Set them aside and ask your account manager where they should go.

Does Wyoming charge a state fee on landfilled waste?

Wyoming landfill fees are set by the city, county or district that runs each site, and each one publishes its own rates. What you pay for disposal depends on that facility. Your account manager can confirm which landfill serves your address and what it charges.
