What Factors Affect Your Dumpster Rental Price?

Every quote starts with the same service. We deliver the container, you load it over the rental period, and we come back to haul it off. Your job's details decide the rest.

Container size, the debris you're tossing, the number of days you need and the job location make the biggest difference. Roofing, brick and concrete weigh a lot for their size, and every added day adds cost.

The landfill matters because Arkansas landfills and solid waste districts each set their own tipping fees, and those fees are part of your price. In this state, even the unit changes. Some sites charge by the cubic yard, while others weigh the load and charge by the ton.

Two examples of how county disposal differs in practice:

  • NEA Regional Solid Waste in Paragould, which serves Clay, Greene, Lawrence and Randolph counties, charges $13.00 per cubic yard for loose trash and $3.50 per cubic yard for clean wood waste like untreated lumber, pallets and brush.
  • The Boston Mountain Solid Waste District in northwest Arkansas charges $73.18 per ton plus tax for trash and yard waste, with a $10 minimum for loads up to 240 pounds.

For planning, that means the same load can be priced by its volume in one corner of the state and by its weight in another. Where a site prices materials separately, keeping clean wood out of mixed trash can lower the bill.

Always confirm fees on the facility's or district's official page. Your account manager can identify the landfill serving your area and explain what will affect your final quote.

Do I Need a Permit for a Dumpster in Arkansas?

A dumpster on private land, like your driveway or a job site lot, usually doesn't need a permit. Things change if it goes on a street, alley or sidewalk. Then you'll need permission from the government that maintains that space, and you should have it before the delivery truck shows up.

Arkansas state law covers landfills, disposal fees and hauler licensing, and it leaves street use to cities and counties. The office you contact depends on where the container will sit:

  • Inside city limits, the city makes the call. Bentonville requires a right-of-way permit for any work on, in or above a street, alley, curb or sidewalk. You apply online, fees and any bonds are paid before the permit is issued, and plans that close a lane or sidewalk get 5 business days of review. The Street Department handles these at 479-271-3130.
  • On county roads outside city limits, check with the county before a container goes down, since rules and fees vary from one county to the next.

Cities like Little Rock write their own street rules into local code, so the steps in one town may not match the next. Your account manager can find the right permit office for your street before delivery is scheduled.

What Can't Go in a Dumpster in Arkansas

Most household junk and remodeling debris is fine to load. What's refused depends mostly on the landfill's permit, and those permits follow rules set by the Arkansas Division of Environmental Quality.

Arkansas law bans a few items outright. Lead-acid batteries can't be thrown in the trash, and landfills can't knowingly accept them. Grass clippings, leaves and shrub trimmings can't be dumped in a landfill just to get rid of them. Whole tires can't be buried unless they're shredded or split first.

Landfill class matters too. A Class 1 landfill takes household and commercial waste, but a Class 4 landfill is limited to inert debris like construction waste, appliances and furniture. A bag of kitchen trash in a load headed to a Class 4 site can get it turned away.

Hazardous waste, free liquids and friable asbestos are kept out of ordinary landfills in Arkansas, just as they are nationwide. Asbestos goes only to a site approved to take it.

Individual sites set their own limits as well. Boston Mountain's transfer station turns away phone poles, railroad ties and lumber longer than 5 feet, and every load must be secured.

Planning to get rid of electronics, tires, appliances or something you're unsure about? Ask your account manager where those items should go before you start loading.

Arkansas Landfill Disposal Sites

Arkansas disposal runs through city landfills, regional solid waste districts and private operators. The site that takes your load depends on where your project is located.

NEA Regional Solid Waste operates its landfill at 1810 Greene Rd 890 in Paragould. It charges by the cubic yard and has a separate rate for asbestos-containing material approved in advance.

Boston Mountain's West Washington County Transfer Station is at 11398 Bond Road in Prairie Grove. It's open to everyone Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and it accepts household, commercial and construction waste.

The City of Conway Landfill is a Class 1 site at 4550 US-64 in Conway. It doesn't accept liquids, and commercial waste haulers can use it Monday through Friday only.

The Arkansas Division of Environmental Quality permits every landfill by class and tracks what each may accept. Your account manager confirms the site for your address when you book, along with any material limits that apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Arkansas?

Arkansas dumpster rentals generally run $399–$499 for a 10-yard container up to $699–$899 for a 40-yard, based on a standard five-day rental. The final price depends on container size, the debris you load and the county landfill or district site that receives it. Your account manager confirms tonnage and overage rates before booking.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Arkansas?

Not from the state. A dumpster on your driveway or private lot usually doesn't need one. A container on a public street, alley or sidewalk does, and the city handles that inside city limits while the county covers county roads. Your account manager can find the right office for you.

What can't go in a dumpster in Arkansas?

Lead-acid batteries, whole tires, loose yard waste bound for a landfill, hazardous waste, free liquids and friable asbestos. Household trash also can't go to a Class 4 construction debris landfill, so a mixed load may be turned away there. Ask before loading anything unusual.

Why does dumpster rental cost vary from one Arkansas county to the next?

Each landfill or district sets its own rates, and some even use different units. NEA Regional Solid Waste in Paragould charges by the cubic yard, while the Boston Mountain district charges by the ton. The site that takes your load shapes the disposal cost.

Can I put tires in an Arkansas dumpster?

Keep them out. Arkansas doesn't allow whole tires to be buried unless they're shredded or split, and sites charge for them separately. Boston Mountain, for example, prices tires one at a time. Set tires aside and ask your account manager where they should go before loading.

Does Arkansas charge a state fee on landfilled waste?

Yes. Arkansas law sets a small landfill disposal fee on each ton or cubic yard of solid waste a landfill receives. The landfill operator pays it, and it's built into the site's rates, so your account manager can explain how it affects your quote.
