in Bristol
Prime Dumpster rents porta potties across Bristol, Connecticut, from the old factory blocks along the Pequabuck River out to the ridges and reservoir land on the edges of town. The orders here reflect a city built on manufacturing and then rebuilt around it: mill and warehouse conversions, construction and siding work on tight nineteenth-century lots, utility digs in narrow streets, and an event season running from spring road races through summer festivals and fall fairs.
What you pay depends on the unit, the count, the rental length and the service schedule. Below are our ranges, the two unit counts Connecticut works from, the City and health district approvals that apply, and how quickly we can be on site.
Take all of those as a standard three day rental. A single-day booking rarely beats a weekend price, since the drop run and the collection run happen regardless.
Handwashing changes the arithmetic on a Connecticut gathering more than it does elsewhere, and the reason is in the count section below. At a large permitted gathering the state pairs a handwashing facility with every toilet, so a ten-unit cluster is a twenty-item order. That is worth knowing before you set a budget.
Access is the other local driver. Bristol streets are narrow, many properties are served from behind, and a mill yard can have one gate wide enough for a service truck. A spot the truck can enter and leave without reversing a long way is quicker to service and cheaper to keep.
Then rental length. A monthly rate on a long conversion includes the weekly clean and eases after the first cycle. A weekend holds both truck runs inside three days. Your account manager will match real numbers to your dates.

Request a Quote NowConnecticut has one answer for crews and a surprisingly detailed one for very large gatherings.
Our porta potty calculator gives you a starting number, and your account manager will then check whether the state gathering rule reaches your event before building the order.
Pick by the user, then by the space you have. Every model is on our porta potty options page.
Most Bristol work runs on the Standard Porta Potty: one stall with a toilet, urinal, paper holder and sanitizer, and a footprint that fits a crowded mill yard or a narrow driveway.
Public clusters need the ADA-Compliant Porta Potty, which is wider, enters flush with the ground and carries grab bars with turning space inside.
For guests, the Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty flushes and seals better, which is what people notice at a summer wedding or a company family day.
Where there is no plumbing to tap, the Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts the basin, soap and mirror inside the stall and saves a second footprint.
The Solar Porta Potty lights and ventilates itself from a roof panel, which matters on an unlit mill lot or a ridge site in a New England autumn when dusk comes early.
The Handwashing Station is a standalone sink with clean water, soap and towels. In Connecticut it is also the unit that satisfies the state pairing rule at a large gathering, so order it in step with the toilets rather than as an afterthought.
The Restroom Trailer brings private stalls, plumbed fixtures and heating or cooling, which suits a wedding venue or a conversion project running many months. Check the tow route into an old street grid first.
Not sure? Give your account manager the crew size or the guest count and they will specify the mix.
Private ground, including a driveway, a fenced yard or a mill lot behind a gate, needs no City permit for the unit itself.
Who approves the unit in Connecticut: this is the state detail to know, and it sits with a local officer rather than a state agency. Under the state public health rules, the local director of health may approve chemical flush toilets and chemical privies for nonresidential use where they stand outside buildings used for human habitation. For Bristol that officer sits at the Bristol-Burlington Health District.
Where the liquid may go: the same rules say liquid waste from those units must be disposed of in a location and manner approved by the local director of health, and it may not be disposed of on a public water supply watershed or within five hundred feet of any water supply well unless the state commissioner approves. In a city ringed by reservoir land that is a live constraint rather than a formality.
Who may move it: material taken off the property has to be removed by a licensed cleaner and only under a written permit from the local director of health naming where and how it will be disposed of. Vehicles must be watertight and carry the company name, and no sewage may be allowed to flow into any storm drain, gutter, street, roadway or public place.
Streets and sidewalks: Bristol has a clear route and some old-fashioned conditions. Anyone wanting to deposit building material or another temporary obstruction in a sidewalk or highway applies to the Director of Public Works first, setting out the place, the extent and the length of time, and the permit states all three. The holder must keep safe and convenient passage around it, must not block the gutters, and must keep lighted lanterns fixed near the obstruction from twilight through the whole night for as long as it stands. No permit is issued until the Director is satisfied that adequate public liability insurance is in place, and no obstruction may be placed within ten feet of any fire hydrant. Worth knowing: the City's published right-of-way form on bristolct.gov is written for dumpsters, signed off by the Director of Public Works with an insurance certificate attached, so a portable restroom placement goes to the same office but should be confirmed with them first.
Events: the City's special event application must be submitted 45 days before the event and is then circulated to several departments, any of which may ask for more information. The City publishes no restroom or handwashing count of its own.
Parks and food vendors: amplified sound and alcohol in a public park need authorization from the board of park commissioners, and the Bristol-Burlington Health District licenses temporary food service and holds the handwashing expectations for vendor booths.
In a hilly New England city, placement comes down to slope, surface and water.
Start with firm, level footing. Bristol has plenty of old concrete and asphalt, and a hard surface is better than a sloping lawn every time. Where the only option is grass or gravel, a plywood pad keeps the unit upright.
Mind the water. Keep units well back from the Pequabuck River, brooks, storm inlets and any well, and remember the state's five hundred foot rule applies to where the liquid waste ends up rather than to the unit itself. Keep at least 15 feet between a unit and food service.
Respect the hydrant. Ten feet is the figure in Bristol, and it is easy to break on a narrow street without meaning to. Check the nearest hydrant before you settle on a spot.
On a job site, place units near the crew and out of the swing of machinery. At an event, split them into groups, pair each group with handwashing, and give the accessible unit a flat approach.
Weekly service is the baseline. Busy crews, festival weekends and humid July stretches usually earn a second visit, and winter needs the approach kept clear once snow is piled at the curb. Your account manager will set the rhythm and sort the access before delivery day.

Most Bristol orders can be on site inside 24 to 48 hours. Three to five days lets us bring the exact mix. For a festival weekend, a road race or a holiday, allow several weeks, because central Connecticut competes for the same dates.
Five habits that keep a delivery smooth:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Bristol and the central Connecticut towns around it, including Plainville, Forestville, Terryville, Plymouth, Burlington, Southington, Wolcott, Farmington, Harwinton and Thomaston. Several of our other porta potty city pages sit within 20 road miles in almost every direction, so your account manager can often combine two towns on one route and save you a separate trip charge.
Standard units run $199–$349 and accessible units $200–$300. Flushing and in-stall sink models are $300–$400, solar units $500–$600, and a restroom trailer opens at $1,500. At a large gathering the state pairing of a sink with each toilet also shapes the total. Your account manager quotes it free.
Below three thousand people, Connecticut sets no ratio, so plan one unit per 50 guests across about four hours and add 15 to 20 percent for alcohol. Above that, with a gathering running 18 hours or more, the state ratio applies. Your account manager will tell you which side of that line you are on.
Connecticut's own program covers government workers, so a private site follows the federal table. One toilet facility for 20 workers or fewer, then a toilet seat and a urinal per 40 above 20, and one of each per 50 past 200. Washing facilities are required too. Send us your peak crew.
Weekly is standard. Each visit pumps the tank, scrubs the bowl and floor, wipes the interior and restocks paper and sanitizer. Busy crews, event weekends and humid spells earn a second stop. Connecticut also controls who may move the waste and where it goes. Your account manager documents the schedule.
No City permit covers a unit on ground you own or lease, though the health district approves nonresidential units and their waste disposal. Street and sidewalk space is the exception: the Director of Public Works issues that permit, with insurance and lit warning conditions. Your account manager can check which route applies.
A standard unit is one narrow stall holding a toilet, a urinal and sanitizer. An accessible unit is wider, has a level entry with nothing to step over, and carries grab bars plus clear floor space to turn a wheelchair. Any public cluster needs one. Crew-only sites can stay with standard units.
A weekend is already what our ranges describe, since they assume a three day rental. A standard unit is $199–$349, a flushing unit $300–$400 and a separate sink $150–$250. Your account manager will confirm the drop window, any service visit and the collection time.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will set the count, pair the sinks, book the service visits and give you a clear figure on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
