Areas We Service
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across 35 Tennessee cities, from Memphis and Jackson in the west to Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and the Tri-Cities in the east. We set up units for construction sites, weddings, festivals, and other events, and for emergency needs when storms knock out water or power. Tell us what you're planning, and we'll suggest the units and service plan that fit.
Your price comes down to a few choices. How many units you need, which kind, how long they stay, and how often we clean them all count. The drive to your site and the path our truck has to take to reach the spot count too.
Below, you'll find price ranges, a simple way to size your order, the permit rules for Tennessee roads and events, and the state rules on food stands and waste.

Every rental includes drop-off, cleaning visits while the units are in use, and pickup at the end. Here's what makes one quote higher than another. - How long you keep the units: We price most event rentals as a weekend, even if your party only runs one afternoon. Job site units are billed in four-week blocks, which suits a long build. - How many units you order: Each one adds to the total. Ordering too few costs more in a different way, with long lines and tanks that fill before the next visit. - How often we service them: A visit means pumping the tank, scrubbing the inside, and refilling paper and hand sanitizer. A packed event or a big crew may need more visits than the standard plan. - Where your site is: A flat spot beside a paved drive is quick for our driver. A unit at the back of a wooded lot or up a gravel hill road takes longer to reach and to service. - Which units you choose: Deluxe units, solar units, restroom trailers, and extra handwashing stations cost more than a standard unit.
Two Tennessee points can also shape your quote:
Your Prime Dumpster account manager will go over each point with you and build a quote that fits your dates and budget.
On private land, like your own yard, a farm, or a job site behind a fence, a porta potty usually doesn't need a permit. Once a unit goes on a street, sidewalk, park, or other public ground, you need a yes from whoever runs that land.
Tennessee has no single permit for portable toilets. The office you call depends on the spot:
A city street can run right into a state route, so the exact address matters. Your account manager can help you track down the right office before you lock in a delivery date.
Start with the number of people and how long they'll be there. These counts work for most Tennessee jobs and events: - Events: Figure 1 unit for every 50 guests over roughly four hours. If drinks are flowing, add 15 to 20 percent. - Construction sites: Federal worker-safety rules require at least 1 toilet when your crew is 20 people or fewer. Past 20, plan 1 toilet and 1 urinal for every 40 workers. - Accessible units: For a public event, include at least 1 accessible unit, or about 1 of every 20 units you set out. - Emergencies: For storm cleanup or disaster relief, plan 1 unit for every 10 workers.
Summer heat in Tennessee, all-day events, and big crowds fill tanks sooner than you'd expect. Try our porta potty calculator for a quick count, and your account manager can check it against your plans.
Three sets of rules matter most for a rental in Tennessee: access for guests with disabilities, food safety at events, and how the waste is handled. - Accessible units: Federal accessibility standards apply when portable toilets are grouped for public use. At least 5 percent of the units in each group must be accessible, and every group needs at least one. Units set out only for a construction crew don't fall under that rule. - Food stands at events: The Tennessee Department of Health permits temporary food stands through its Environmental Health Program. Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison, and Shelby counties run their own programs. A temporary stand is one tied to an organized event that lasts more than a day and no more than 14 days. Vendors and event organizers each request an application from the health department. Knox County's vendor guidelines are a good example of what to expect. They ask vendors to apply at least 14 days ahead. They also say food workers must have toilets they can reach at all times, with warm running water for washing hands, and every booth that preps food needs its own handwashing station. - Where the waste goes: In Tennessee, anyone who pumps out portable toilets needs a permit from the Department of Environment and Conservation, through its Division of Water Resources. The state keeps a public list of permitted pumpers. Spreading the waste on land takes a separate state permit, so it ends up at a treatment plant or a permitted disposal site, never in a ditch or storm drain.
If your event has food vendors or a big public crowd, your Prime Dumpster account manager can check what applies and plan your units around it.

Most standard porta potties average $199–$349 per unit, and ADA-compliant units average $200–$300. Deluxe flushing units and units with a sink run $300–$400, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. The number of units, rental length, and service plan set your final price, and your account manager confirms it in a free quote.
A good starting point is 1 unit for every 50 guests at a four-hour event. Serving beer or wine? Add 15 to 20 percent. Hot Tennessee afternoons and all-day events use units faster, so plan a little extra. Public events should also include at least one accessible unit in the mix.
Usually not on private property. A unit on a state highway needs TDOT's approval, and one on a city street, sidewalk, or park needs the city's okay. Public events often need a city event permit, and food vendors need health department permits. Your account manager can point you to the right office.
The standard plan includes one service visit each week. We pump the tank, clean the unit, and restock paper and sanitizer every time. Big crowds, large crews, and summer heat can call for extra visits. Your account manager will set a schedule based on how many people use the units and for how long.
Yes, if members of the public will use your units. Federal rules call for about 5 percent of each group to be accessible, with at least one in every group. Units used only by a construction crew are exempt, though many sites add one anyway. Your account manager can help you choose the right mix.
For a job site, a few days' notice is usually plenty, and we can often deliver in 24 to 48 hours. Spring and fall weekends fill up with weddings and festivals, so book those several weeks out. Leave extra time if your event needs a city permit or food vendor approvals.
