Lumber, drywall, roofing, flooring, cabinets, and general cleanout junk all load without trouble. The limits come from Missouri's landfill bans and from a handful of local refusals.
Missouri keeps four groups of material out of landfills. Major appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, trash compactors, and water heaters are banned, as are whole tires, waste oil, and lead-acid batteries. Tire shops and battery retailers are required to take the old item back when you buy a replacement, which is usually the simplest route.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos never go in a standard container. Nixa points residents with household chemicals to the Springfield collection center at 417-864-1904.
A local point catches people out. The city recycle center is for Nixa residents only, and it will not take construction or building materials, carpet, mattresses, metal scrap, tires, paint, propane tanks, or electronics, so it is not an option for job-site debris. A roll-off handles all of that in one go instead.
Mention anything unusual to your account manager before it goes over the rail, and we will tell you whether it can stay in the load.
