Turner, Oregon is a small city located in Marion County. It was founded by George M. Turner and his family who had immigrated from Canada in 1848. This quaint town has been around since 1850 and has retained much of its rural charm over the years.
The historic downtown area of Turner features many buildings that were built in the late 1800s and early 1900s, including two churches – Methodist Episcopal Church (built in 1898) and Stoddard Baptist Church (built in 1910). There are also some interesting sights to be seen such as an old schoolhouse with a bell tower, several old barns which have been converted into businesses, and a unique train station.
In addition to its historical heritage, Turner offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation like fishing at Salmon Creek or hiking along the trails at Willamette Mission State Park. The surrounding countryside is dotted with farms and wineries where visitors can sample local products while enjoying stunning views of Mount Hood and the Cascade Mountains.
For nature lovers, there’s also a bird sanctuary nearby where one can observe migratory birds during their seasonal visits to this part of Oregon.
