in Grand Forks
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals throughout Grand Forks, North Dakota, and the Red River valley communities on both sides of the water. The calendar here has two distinct halves. From spring thaw to first frost there is construction everywhere, street and utility work, housing on the south end, and university projects, alongside events that fill the Greenway and the fairgrounds. Through the winter the work narrows to what can be kept warm and serviced, and planning matters more than ever.
Price comes down to the model, the count, how long the booking runs and how often a truck comes back. Below are our ranges, the count that governs a Grand Forks County job site, and the North Dakota servicing rule that quietly decides who is even allowed to look after your units.
The time of year moves a Grand Forks quote more than it moves almost any other factor. A valley winter freezes service water and shortens the working day, so a January booking is a different operation from a June one. Where a unit has to stay usable through a cold spell we talk about a heated trailer rather than pretending a standard unit will be comfortable.
Service frequency is the next lever. North Dakota sets out what a visit must include and who may carry it out, so two quotes that look alike can be two different products. Weekly is our baseline and extra visits are quoted openly.
Duration evens the bill out. Our ranges cover about three days on site, which is why one Saturday and a whole weekend usually come to the same figure. A long street project or a summer-long build shifts to four-week pricing with service folded in.

Request a Quote NowNorth Dakota is a clean answer, and it is worth saying why rather than just giving a number. The state does not run its own workplace safety plan at all, so federal rules apply directly to private employers and no separate North Dakota construction table exists or could.
Our porta potty calculator gives you a starting figure, and your account manager checks it against your crew pattern or your expected crowd.
Pick by who will use it and how long it has to stand in valley weather. Each model is set out on the porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the everyday unit on a valley build: one private stall with a toilet, a urinal, paper and sanitizer.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is the wide model with a level entry, grab bars and turning room for a wheelchair. Put one in every group of units wherever the public comes.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty flushes and holds odor down, which is what a reception, a reunion or a graduation party calls for.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink has a sink, soap and mirror inside the stall, so nobody crosses the lot to wash their hands.
The Solar Porta Potty draws its light and fan from a panel on the roof. On a short December afternoon in the valley that light stops being a luxury.
The Handwashing Station is the piece federal rules will not let a work site do without. It is free-standing, with clean water, soap and single-use towels, and it belongs beside any food.
The Restroom Trailer holds a row of private stalls with plumbed water and climate control. In Grand Forks the heating is often the reason people choose it rather than a nicety.
Describe the job to your account manager and they will assemble the right combination.
On private ground, no. Grand Forks publishes no permit for a portable restroom on a lot, a driveway or a fenced site, and where a building permit is already open the restroom is simply part of the site setup.
Public ground is a different matter, and the city's rule has a sting most people miss. The code makes it unlawful to build, erect, place or construct any shed, booth, structure or other building of any kind, or any other obstruction, in whole or in part upon any street, alley, avenue, sidewalk or other public place or ground in the city. A placed restroom sits inside that language. The penalty then repeats for every forty-eight hours the obstruction is not removed after notice from the chief of police, so the exposure compounds rather than landing once. If it still is not gone, it is deemed a nuisance, the chief of police may have it taken away, and the cost is recoverable from whoever put it there.
A second section reaches public parks as well as streets, barring the obstruction of any street, avenue, alley, sidewalk, gutter, public park or highway with lumber, brick, crates or any other material or article whatever. Together those two provisions cover almost any public spot a customer might ask about.
The permits published in that part of the code are for poles and for excavation, not for a temporary placement. So treat a Grand Forks street, sidewalk or park spot as unavailable until the City says otherwise. An unpublished administrative route may well exist, and the City is the place to ask, but nothing on the public record authorizes it in advance and we will never promise you a curb spot here. Private ground is nearly always the better answer and is usually closer to the work.
Events: the City asks for all event information fifteen days before the date, and its own event guidance sets no restroom requirement, no ratio and no service interval. Food vendors are licensed separately through the Public Health Department, and the City routes that through its finance office on 701-746-2620. Your account manager can give you the unit count, accessible share and service schedule before you file, which is usually what the City wants to see in the plan.
Stand units on compacted, level ground where a pumper truck has a straight run at them. Keep them 15 feet or more from food service, back from storm inlets draining toward the Red River or the English Coulee, and within about 200 feet of the crew on a work site. At an event, break the units into groups at the busy points, each with an accessible model. On an open valley site an empty unit will walk, so we anchor it.
North Dakota regulates this work in a way that reaches portable toilets by name, and the detail is worth knowing because it is unusual. Operating even one portable restroom servicing vehicle puts a company in the state's top servicer class. A septic business running two tanker trucks and no portable restroom work sits in the lower class; add a single portable restroom truck and the whole business moves up. The consequence is real: the higher class needs the state's written preapproval for every land application site, backed by a site assessment, so the destinations are vetted in advance rather than chosen on the day.
The rest of the state's requirements land on us too. Every servicer and every employee who does the work passes an annual state examination, and the servicer attends a state training course every five years. The permit expires at the end of December each year, with a short grace period, and after that nobody may operate until a new permit is approved. Each servicing unit carries a state-issued pumper plate on the back and the company name on the side in letters at least three inches tall and half an inch thick in a contrasting color. Tanks have to be leakproof and capped, and the vehicle may not be used for anything else. The state's servicing rules set all of this out.
Locally, hauled loads may be discharged only at points the city's treatment works designates and only under a permit from the control authority, so a Grand Forks order has a documented destination. Your account manager confirms both the interval and that destination before anything is delivered.

Most Grand Forks orders are on site inside 24 to 48 hours, and three to five days secures a particular model. For a summer weekend, a tournament or a festival on the Greenway, give us several weeks, because the short valley season packs everything into a few months.
Five habits that keep a delivery on schedule:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Grand Forks and the valley communities around it, including East Grand Forks, Thompson, Manvel, Emerado, Grafton and the farm and township sites between them. North Dakota is a wide state and we will say plainly that our nearest sister pages are a real drive rather than a short hop: West Fargo sits about 76 miles south and Fargo about 79 miles south down Interstate 29. That is why we plan a valley route around your dates instead of promising a same-day run from somewhere else.
Standard units are $199–$349 and accessible ones $200–$300. Deluxe flushing and sink models come in at $300–$400, solar units at $500–$600, and a restroom trailer opens at $1,500. A handwashing station is $150–$250. Season is the usual reason a valley quote moves either way.
Grand Forks publishes no ratio, so work from one unit to every 50 guests across roughly four hours, lifted 15 to 20 percent where alcohol is served, with an accessible model among them. Your account manager refines that from your busiest hour and your layout.
The federal rule governs, because North Dakota runs no state safety plan of its own. Twenty workers or fewer are covered by one facility, and each further 40 people adds a toilet seat and a urinal. A washing facility is required on every site as well.
Weekly is our standard, and busy summer sites often move to twice weekly. Every call empties the tank, sanitizes the whole interior and refills paper, soap and towels. North Dakota licenses the servicing business and examines every employee who does the work each year, so it is a regulated job.
No. Grand Forks sets no permit for a portable restroom on private ground, including a driveway or a fenced work site. Stay inside your own boundary and clear of the sidewalk. A unit on any street, alley or public park counts as an obstruction, and the penalty repeats until it is moved.
A standard unit is a single narrow stall holding a toilet, a urinal and sanitizer. The accessible model is broader, sits level with the ground at the door, and adds grab bars with space for a wheelchair to turn. Public events in Grand Forks should carry one in every group.
A weekend falls inside our standard three-day window, so it prices as the base case. Allow $199–$349 for a standard unit, $300–$400 for a deluxe flushing model, and $150–$250 for a handwashing station. Your account manager times the drop-off and the collection around your dates.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will set out the count, the service interval and the winter plan if you need one, and quote the order while we talk.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
