Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Helena
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Helena, Montana, and the Lewis and Clark County valley around it. State and commercial construction, road and utility crews, summer events along Last Chance Gulch, trail races on Mount Helena, rodeos, and weekends out toward Canyon Ferry Lake all call for portable toilets here.
What you pay turns on the units you choose, how many you take, how long you keep them, and how often they are serviced. Below are our price ranges, the counts we plan around, the City permits tied to public ground, and what makes for a quick delivery.
Each range above covers a standard three-day rental. Events are booked that way as a matter of course, so a single Saturday and a full weekend generally cost the same.
Distance shows up quickly in Montana. A drop a few blocks from the Capitol is straightforward. A site up a forest road, out on a ranch, or at a trailhead means a long round trip for the driver, so grouping several units on one run helps.
Rental length is the other big lever. Crews that will be on site for months move to a four-week cycle with a weekly service visit built in, and the daily cost settles down.
The rest is choices. Accessible units, sinks by a food tent, and extra service stops for a busy weekend each add to the total. Your account manager can lay those out for you before you commit.

Request a Quote NowStart with the crowd size and the hours. Here is how we size an order:
A summer festival on a hot, dry afternoon goes through capacity faster than an evening gathering with the same guest list. Use our porta potty calculator to start, then have your account manager adjust for your site.
Choose by who will use it and for how long. The full lineup is on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the unit most Helena crews and small gatherings order. Toilet, urinal, paper holder, and sanitizer in a lockable stall.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is wide, enters at ground level, and has grab bars and turning space for a wheelchair. Public events should include one.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty brings a flush and better odor control, which guests appreciate at a wedding or a banquet.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink keeps a sink, soap, and mirror inside, a real help at family events and near a food line.
The Solar Porta Potty lights and vents itself on solar power. That makes it a natural choice on a ranch, at a trailhead, or on a remote build with no service.
The Handwashing Station is a stand-alone sink with clean water, soap, and towels. Put one at every food booth.
The Restroom Trailer offers private stalls, running water, and heat or air conditioning, which matters when a spring morning starts below freezing.
Your account manager can pick the mix once they hear about your crowd or your crew.
A unit on your own property, whether a yard, a ranch, or a fenced job site, needs no City permit. Public ground and public events are where the City steps in.
Streets, sidewalks and alleys: Placing an object in the City right-of-way is handled through the right-of-way encroachment or use permit from Public Works. The application asks for a site plan showing exactly where objects and fixtures will sit inside the right-of-way, so mark the unit on the drawing. Public Works is at 316 North Park Avenue, and the phone is 406-447-8431.
Special events: The City requires a special event permit for any event that assembles or travels in unison along a public street, alley, sidewalk, or other public way and gets in the way of normal traffic. Waiving the alcohol rule on public property takes a permit as well.
Timing and the restroom plan: File 30 days ahead for an event under 1,000 people, and 90 days ahead once you pass 1,000 including staff. Depending on the event, the City asks for a garbage or restroom plan with the application, which is the point at which your unit count has to be settled. Parks and Recreation coordinates events at 406-447-8463, and the Streets and Traffic Division is at 406-447-1566.
State highways: For anything inside a state right-of-way, the Montana Department of Transportation handles encroachment and special use permits, separate from the City.
Food vendors: Lewis and Clark Public Health reviews temporary event food vendors, and any open food preparation or service needs a handwash station with warm water, soap, paper towels, and a way to catch the wastewater. Their office is at 1930 Ninth Avenue, phone 406-457-8900.
If you cannot work out which office owns your spot, your account manager will help you find it.
Look for firm, level ground with room for the truck. Helena sits on a slope, and a pad that looks flat can still tilt a unit. Frost keeps the ground hard through winter, but spring thaw turns gravel lanes soft in a hurry.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service, and away from creeks, irrigation ditches, and storm inlets. On a build, place them within about 200 feet of the crew so breaks stay short. Wind matters here too, so set units against a building or a fence line rather than out in the open where a gust can catch a door.
Weekly service is standard. The driver pumps the tank, washes and sanitizes the interior, and restocks paper and sanitizer. Busy events and large crews often move to two visits.
Montana requires a state license for anyone in the business of cleaning portable toilets, and the state's pumper guidance limits disposal to sites named on that license, such as a treatment plant or a licensed land application site. Locally, the City of Helena's wastewater treatment facility continues to accept hauled septic waste and treats more than a billion gallons a year. Your account manager can confirm your service days.

Most Helena orders go out within 24 to 48 hours. Give us three to five days and you are far more likely to get the exact units you asked for. June through September is the pinch, with festivals, weddings, races, and the construction season all running at once, so reserve early for those dates.
Five things that make delivery easier:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery throughout Helena and the communities nearby, including East Helena, Montana City, Clancy, Jefferson City, Lincoln, Townsend, and the recreation sites out along Canyon Ferry Lake. Whether your project is downtown, on a subdivision lot in the valley, or up a gravel road in the hills, we schedule delivery, service, and pickup around you.
A standard unit averages $199–$349 and an accessible unit averages $200–$300. Deluxe models run $300–$400, a handwashing station is $150–$250, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. Unit count, rental length, delivery distance, and service frequency all move the total. Your account manager confirms it in a free quote.
Use 1 unit per 50 guests over about four hours, then add 15 to 20 percent if alcohol is served. A 150-guest wedding usually needs three units plus a handwashing station. All-day events, hot weather, and food service push that up, and a public event should include an accessible unit.
Federal worker-safety rules apply on Montana sites. A crew of 20 or fewer needs at least 1 toilet, and larger crews come to 1 toilet and 1 urinal per 40 workers. Keep the units close to the work so breaks stay short. Your account manager can adjust the order as the crew changes through the season.
Weekly is the standard schedule. Every visit covers pumping the tank, washing and sanitizing the interior, restocking paper and sanitizer, and a quick check of the door and vent. Big crowds, large crews, and hot summer weeks are reasons to go to two visits. Your account manager can build that in.
No. A unit on your own yard, ranch, or fenced job site in Helena needs no City approval. You will need a permit once it goes into a street, sidewalk, alley, or other public right-of-way, and public events on public ways have their own permit. Your account manager can point you at the right office.
A standard unit is a compact stall holding a toilet, a urinal, and hand sanitizer. An accessible unit is wider, enters at ground level, and adds grab bars and space for a wheelchair to turn. Public events should have at least one in each group. Crew-only units on a job site are exempt.
Weekend bookings are written as three-day rentals, so a Saturday event and a Friday to Sunday run usually land at the same price. Standard units average $199–$349, deluxe flushing units average $300–$400, and handwashing stations are $150–$250. Your account manager will set the delivery and pickup times.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will choose the units, set the service visits, and give you a clear price while you are on the phone.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
