Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Hagerstown
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Hagerstown, Maryland, and the Washington County communities around it. Units go out to home construction and remodels in the older city neighborhoods, warehouse and distribution work along the Interstate 81 corridor, roofing and paving crews, farm and orchard work in the valley, and outdoor events of every size, from a City Park festival to a fairgrounds weekend to a downtown street gathering.
Your price depends on the unit you choose, how many you need, how long they stay, and how often a truck comes back to service them. Below you will find our ranges, the crew numbers that apply on a Maryland job site, what the City wants before an event or a street closure, and how fast delivery can be scheduled.
Every range above assumes a three-day rental, which is how most Hagerstown weekend orders are written. A single Saturday and a Friday through Sunday window usually cost the same, so take the wider window.
Job sites price differently. A house build, a warehouse fit-out, or a paving run is quoted in four-week blocks with weekly service included, and the weekly figure drops once you are past the first block.
Hagerstown has one local factor worth planning for. The City asks for event applications three to six months out, and the best weekends fill early, which narrows the unit types still available to a late order.
Access and the seasons finish the picture. A unit at the back of a soft site, behind a locked gate, or up a grade costs the driver time. Summer humidity pushes many customers to twice-weekly service, and winter work needs the cold-weather setup.

Request a Quote NowMaryland was worth checking properly, because the state runs its own workplace safety program covering private employers. It adopts the federal standards by reference and writes only a short list of its own, and the only sanitation standard on that list is an agricultural one that does not reach a building site. So the federal construction table is the number that applies here.
Run your numbers through our porta potty calculator for a starting point, then let your account manager adjust for your crew, your guest list, and how often you want the truck back.
Work backwards from who will use the unit and for how many days. The full lineup sits on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the working unit on most Hagerstown sites: one private stall with a toilet, a urinal, a paper holder, and sanitizer.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is wider, enters at grade with no step, and carries grab bars plus turning room for a wheelchair. Any event open to the public should have one in each group.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty adds a flushing bowl and far better odor control, which earns its keep at a wedding or a guest-facing event.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink has a sink, soap, and a mirror inside the stall, so guests never cross the site to wash their hands.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan from a roof panel, which solves a raw site with no power and an evening event with no lighting plan.
The Handwashing Station stands on its own and holds clean water, soap, and paper towels. One belongs beside any food service and one on any site where the crew breaks for lunch.
The Restroom Trailer tows in behind a truck and brings multiple private stalls, running water, and climate control. It is the right answer for a wedding, a corporate day, or a site that will run for months.
Still deciding? Give your account manager the headcount and the dates and they will build the mix.
On private ground, no. Hagerstown issues no permit for a portable toilet standing on your own lot, a driveway, or a fenced job site. Public ground and organized events are a different story.
Private property and job sites: keep the unit inside your property line and clear of the public sidewalk. If the project already carries a building permit, the unit is part of the site setup.
Parking lanes, sidewalks and travel lanes: this is the one most people get wrong in Hagerstown. The City issues a Street Closure and Detour Permit specifically to close parking lanes, sidewalks, or travel lanes where no excavation or street opening is involved, which is exactly what a unit standing in a parking lane does. Applications are taken in the Permits Office on the third floor of City Hall between 8:00 and 3:30 on weekdays, and can also go in online, by mail, by fax, by appointment, or in the City Hall drop box with the fee. One duty lands squarely on the customer: pedestrian and traffic safety has to be maintained by the applicant for the whole closure. The permits line is 301-739-8577, extension 123.
Events using City property: the City requires a Special Event Application where the event uses City facilities or property and is advertised, draws a large group, is not a regular use of the site, or affects City streets, sidewalks, or rights of way. The City asks for it at least six months and no less than three months ahead, which is a much longer runway than most places. A Logistics Committee drawn from Public Works, Parks, Engineering, the Community Engagement Office, Safety and Risk Management, Police, and Fire reviews it.
Private events: a private gathering follows a different path. If attendance will exceed 50 people, money changes hands, food or alcohol is sold, a street closure is wanted, sound is amplified, or a tent is bigger than ten feet square, the City says you may still need departmental permission but should not file the Special Event Application. Contact the Community Engagement Officer instead.
What the City does not set: the whole 53-page event guidebook never mentions restrooms, portable toilets, or sanitation capacity, and the application does not ask for a unit count. Hagerstown publishes no attendee ratio. That makes the number entirely yours, and your account manager will help you land on one you can defend.
Also budget for: an assembly permit at $50 with a posted occupant capacity, liability insurance of at least $1 million and $2 million where alcohol is served, and Washington County Health Department requirements wherever food is served or given away.
Placement decides how well a unit stands up and how quickly it can be serviced.
Start with firm, level ground. A unit on a slope leans and a unit on soft fill after a wet spring can settle. Plywood or a mat under the feet is cheap insurance.
Give the truck a clear run in. We need width and overhead room to set and lift a unit, so keep the route clear and share gate codes before delivery day.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service and well back from storm inlets and creeks. On a job site, set them within about 200 feet of the work. At an event, break the units into groups and give each group an accessible unit on flat footing. In a parking lane, remember the City expects you to keep pedestrians safe for the whole closure.
Service comes weekly by default and more often if you ask. On each visit the tank is emptied, the interior is washed down, and paper and sanitizer are topped up. Humid weather, a busy site, and any food event are all reasons to double it up. The waste leaves through the regulated wastewater system rather than going anywhere on site; the City's Wastewater Division treats roughly eight million gallons a day at its plant on Clean Water Circle, and your account manager will confirm your service schedule and the disposal point before the first delivery.

Most Hagerstown orders can be on site within 24 to 48 hours. Give us three to five days and we can put the precise units you want on the truck. For a festival weekend, a holiday, or a wedding, allow several weeks, because all of Washington County wants the same dates.
These five habits keep a delivery smooth:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Hagerstown and the surrounding Washington, Frederick, Montgomery and Carroll County communities, including Frederick, Damascus, Gaithersburg, Rockville, Westminster, Williamsport, Smithsburg, Boonsboro and Funkstown. Hagerstown sits well to the west of the rest of our Maryland coverage, so the nearby list runs longer here than it would in the Baltimore suburbs; Frederick is the only genuinely close neighbor and we say so rather than padding the list.
Expect $199–$349 for a standard unit and $200–$300 for an accessible one. The deluxe flushing and sink models sit between $300–$400, solar units between $500–$600, and a restroom trailer starts at $1,500. How many units, how long, and how often they are serviced are what shift the total, and your account manager will pin it down in a free quote.
Work on one unit for every 50 people over roughly four hours, and raise that by 15 to 20 percent if there is a bar. Food service needs a handwashing station beside it, and every cluster of units needs an accessible model. Hagerstown sets no figure of its own, so your account manager will help you choose one.
Maryland leans on the federal rule here. A crew of 20 or fewer is covered by one toilet facility; past 20 workers it becomes a toilet seat and a urinal for every 40, and past 200 workers one of each per 50. Short field work still needs a facility available.
Once a week is the baseline. The service crew empties the tank, washes out the interior, and restocks paper and sanitizer at every stop. Heavy traffic, Maryland humidity, and food events all run better on two visits a week, and winter work needs the cold-weather setup. Your account manager picks the schedule with you.
No. Hagerstown issues no permit for a portable toilet on private ground, including a driveway or a fenced job site. Keep it inside your property line and off the public sidewalk. A unit in a parking lane, a sidewalk, or a travel lane does need a City street closure permit.
The standard model is a single narrow stall holding a toilet, a urinal, and sanitizer. The accessible version is noticeably wider, has no step at the door, and carries grab bars and clear floor space for a wheelchair to turn. Public events want one in each cluster.
Because our ranges are built on three days, a weekend is already the base case. Reckon on $199–$349 for a standard unit, $300–$400 for a deluxe flushing one, and $150–$250 for a handwashing station. Your account manager will lock in the delivery slot and the pickup day.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will work out the unit count, pin down the service visits, and quote you properly before the call ends.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
