in Manchester
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Manchester, New Hampshire, and the Merrimack Valley towns beside it. Mill district renovation and commercial construction, downtown street events, road races along the river, youth sports weekends, and fall festival season all keep portable toilets moving through the city.
Your price depends on the unit type, how many you take, how long they stay, and how often a truck services them. Below are the ranges, the counts the City itself recommends, the approvals you'll need, and how to get units on site quickly.
Those ranges are for a standard three-day rental. Here is what shifts them in Manchester.
Length of stay counts for the most. Event orders are billed across three days, so a Saturday festival costs close to a full weekend. A job site moves to a 28-day cycle, which is better value when the work runs for months.
Service frequency is the next piece, and for City events it isn't optional. Manchester requires portable restrooms at special events to be serviced at least daily, so build that into your budget rather than treating it as an upgrade.
Season swings supply hard here. The City's own septage facility sees its heaviest flow from May through October, which is the same stretch when every event, ball field, and job site wants units. Winter brings a different problem: a drop spot has to stay reachable once snow is banked along the curb, and frozen ground limits where a unit can safely sit.
Access finishes the picture. A paved pad near a street is quick to serve. A unit behind a gate, up a mill-yard ramp, or at the back of a long site takes more of the driver's time, and the quote reflects it.

Request a Quote NowManchester publishes its own recommended table, which makes this easier here than in most cities.
Our own rule of one unit per 50 guests over about four hours, plus 15 to 20 percent more when alcohol is served, lands above the City table for smaller events, and that extra margin is what keeps lines down. Try our porta potty calculator, then let your account manager compare both numbers with you.
Pick around the people using it and the length of the booking. Every option is laid out on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty covers crews and casual gatherings, with a seat, urinal, paper holder, and sanitizer inside.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty has a flat entry, a wide door, grab bars, and turning room for a wheelchair. The City writes this one into its event guidance, so plan for it.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty flushes with fresh water from a foot pump, which makes a real difference at a wedding or a company party.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap, and mirror inside the unit, handy at family events and anywhere near food.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan from a roof panel, useful on a trail project or a riverside site with no power.
The Handwashing Station is a freestanding sink with water, soap, and towels. Manchester expects one for every ten units at an event.
The Restroom Trailer carries several stalls, running water, heat, and air conditioning, which earns its cost at a wedding or on a long project.
Tell your account manager who is coming and they'll put the mix together.
On your own driveway, yard, or job site lot, no City permit covers the unit itself. Street use and public events are where the approvals come in.
Street and sidewalk closures: Any event that temporarily closes a city street, a highway or part of one, or a sidewalk has to be approved by the Department of Public Works, and any other traffic management question goes the same way.
Events: The City works to a clear clock. At 90 days you hold a pre-planning meeting, file the special event application and site plan, and pay the fees. At 60 days every department sign-off should be done. At 30 days the insurance certificate, final site plan, and final food vendor list are due. Your site plan has to mark the location of every portable restroom, so the unit count needs settling before that drawing is finished.
Food vendors: Manchester runs its own health department, so the temporary food service forms and fees go there at least two weeks, or ten working days, before the event. Handwashing stations need warm running water at 100 degrees or above, with a container to catch the waste water, and that water has to go to a sanitary sewer rather than the ground or a storm drain.
Other City desks: The City Clerk handles the special event permit at 603-624-6455, Parks and Recreation covers use of City property at 603-624-6565, and Fire Prevention takes tents, propane, and cooking equipment at 603-624-6507. A public event on private property needs written permission from the property owner.
State highways: If your route touches a state maintained highway rather than a city street, the state needs its own permit for a foot race, parade, or event.
Not sure which desk your site falls under? Your account manager can point you at the right contact well before the 90-day mark.
Placement decides how smoothly every service visit goes, and in this climate it also decides how long a unit stays usable.
Set units on firm, level ground. Spring thaw softens everything, and a unit on a slope or soft fill is a hazard. In winter, pick a spot that will still be reachable after plowing, and keep it out of the snow shelf along the curb.
Keep units at least 15 feet from any food service, and clear of storm drains, brooks, and the riverbank. On a job site, place them within 200 feet of the work so your crew isn't losing time walking across the lot.
A weekly visit is the baseline for job sites. City events are different: Manchester requires daily servicing of portable restrooms at special events, so plan the schedule around that rather than around a weekly rhythm.
New Hampshire counts what comes out of a portable toilet as septage, and anyone hauling it needs a state permit, one for each tank, carried in the vehicle with a permit plate displayed. Manchester then has somewhere local for it to go: the City runs a state-licensed septage receiving facility that takes septage from Manchester, Bedford, Goffstown, Londonderry, Candia, and Auburn, and handles more than eighteen million gallons a year. A hauler needs City and state vehicle licenses before the City will let a truck discharge there, and every approved truck carries a bar-coded card that logs the date, time, and weight of each load. Your account manager can confirm your service days and where your waste is taken.

Most Manchester orders are delivered within 24 to 48 hours. Three to five days of notice lets us match units to the job and set the service rhythm. For anything running through the City's event process, think in months rather than weeks.
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery throughout Manchester and the towns around it, including Londonderry, Derry, Bedford, Goffstown, Hooksett, Auburn, Candia, Nashua, and Concord, with delivery reaching the Seacoast at Dover and Portsmouth. Whether the job is a mill district renovation, a road race through downtown, a tournament weekend, or a wedding out in the hills, we plan delivery, servicing, and pickup around your dates.
A standard porta potty here averages $199–$349 per unit, and an ADA-compliant unit averages $200–$300. Deluxe units land between $300 and $400, and restroom trailers begin at $1,500. Unit count, how long you keep them, and the service schedule all move the total. Your account manager confirms the figure in a free quote.
Manchester publishes a table. For a four-hour event it recommends 2 units for 250 people, 4 for 500, and 7 for 1,000, assuming daily service. We plan on one unit per 50 guests, plus 15 to 20 percent more with alcohol, which runs above the City figure at smaller events and keeps lines shorter.
New Hampshire follows the federal count, since the state has no separate safety agency for private employers. One unit covers a crew of 20 or fewer. Above that, you need one toilet and one urinal for every 40 workers, and one per 50 once a crew passes 200. Keep units near the work.
Job site units get a weekly visit as standard, with more for large crews or heavy use. At a Manchester special event the City requires daily servicing, so an event order carries a different schedule and a different cost. Your account manager will set the right rhythm for which kind of booking you have.
Not for a unit on your own driveway, yard, or job site lot. A street or sidewalk closure needs Public Works approval, a public event needs the City's event process, and an event on someone else's private property needs the owner's written permission. Your account manager can help you work out which applies.
A standard unit fits one person stepping up through a normal door. An ADA unit is wider, enters flat at ground level, carries grab bars, and leaves turning room for a wheelchair. Manchester asks for at least five percent of clustered units to be accessible. Units used only by a construction crew are exempt from that rule.
A standard unit averages $199–$349, and weekend event rentals are priced across three days. A Saturday-only event therefore costs close to the full weekend. Deluxe flushing units and restroom trailers run higher, and daily servicing at a City event adds to it. Your account manager will confirm the weekend price.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We'll size the order against the City table, set a service schedule that matches the season, and give you a clear price on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
