in Rochester
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals in Rochester, New Hampshire, and across the Strafford County towns along the Cocheco and Salmon Falls rivers. Construction here means mill conversions downtown, new homes out toward Gonic and East Rochester, and utility work along the Spaulding Turnpike corridor, while events run from fairground weekends and farmers markets to youth tournaments and church suppers.
Price follows the model you choose, how many units go out, how long they stay and how often we return. What follows is our range, the national job site figure, the New Hampshire rules that actually dictate where a unit may stand and when it has to leave, the City permit for the street, and our lead times.
The New Hampshire removal clock is the pricing detail most customers here have never heard of. A unit has to be serviced or taken away within two weeks of the end of an event or a construction project, and the longest extension the rules allow is thirty days by agreement between us and you. That turns a vague end date into a scheduled collection, which is better for your budget as well as your compliance.
Water sets the second constraint. No unit may stand closer than fifty feet to surface waters of the state, and in a city built along two rivers that rules out a lot of otherwise convenient ground. We work the setback out before the truck is loaded rather than after.
Winter is the third factor. Deliveries from December through March need a surface that will take weight, cleared approaches and freeze protection, and a trailer needs a power supply that will hold overnight. Those visits take longer and we say so in the quote.
Finally, timing and length. Our ranges assume roughly three days on site, so a weekend is the base case. A multi-month build moves to a longer rate with visits folded in, and the busiest draw on flushing models and trailers comes with graduation and fair season.

Run your numbers through our porta potty calculator, then let your account manager sanity-check the result against your shift pattern and your site plan.
Choose for who uses the unit and for a New England year that swings from mud season to deep cold. All seven models are described on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty handles most Rochester crews: one enclosed stall with a toilet, urinal, paper holder and sanitizer.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is wider, enters at grade and carries grab bars with turning space for a wheelchair, and it belongs in any grouping open to the public.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty adds a flushing bowl and much better odor control, which is what a wedding party or a dinner guest expects.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink carries the basin, soap and mirror inside the stall and keeps a queue moving at a reception.
The Solar Porta Potty draws light and fan power from a roof panel, which suits a trail project, a woodlot or a field with no supply.
The Handwashing Station stands separately with clean water, soap and single-use towels, and it is how a Rochester site meets the federal washing duty.
The Restroom Trailer arrives as a small heated building with plumbed stalls, which is the honest answer for a winter event or a long project with office staff.
Tell your account manager the headcount, the ground and the season, and they will put the mix together.
A unit on your own property needs no City permit. The City regulates the public highway and the sidewalk, and it does so in one chapter that was renamed from Streets and Sidewalks in December 2023.
The list of barred items is worth reading closely. The City says that items including but not limited to permanent or portable buildings, signs, lights, basketball hoops, hockey goals, blinds or other sports structures, displays, fuel tanks or septic systems shall not be permitted on, over or under public highways, taking in Class IV and Class VI highways. A restroom is not on that list, and the next sentence is the one that matters to you.
There is a real permit, with a plain test. Temporary obstructions on highways, sidewalks or in public parking areas, for purposes not limited to building construction, rehabilitation or utility maintenance, may only be approved through a permit issued by the Department of Public Works. The City says such permits will be issued where the requested conditions are deemed not to be adverse to public travel. Safety measures are at your expense, damage is repaired at your expense, and the Department may require surety for restoration.
Sidewalks are covered in their own words. No person may unnecessarily place an obstruction on any foot pavement or sidewalk, and anything placed there needs a Department permit first. The Department also keeps full authority to remove obstructions, so an unpermitted unit is not a risk worth running.
Two timing rules nobody mentions until late. Work in the right-of-way is normally carried out between 1 April and 30 November unless the Department treats it as urgent, and for five years after a highway receives its final paving, nobody may disturb the paved or travelled portion except in an emergency. Both can push a street placement onto private ground.
Who to call. Public Works sits at 209 Chestnut Hill Road and takes permit questions on 603-332-4096. No fee for the temporary obstruction permit is published, so ask when you apply, and your account manager will help you frame the request.
Start with the fifty-foot water setback, because in Rochester it decides the whole layout. Keep every unit at least fifty feet from surface waters of the state, which includes the Cocheco, the Salmon Falls and the brooks feeding them. After that, pick firm level ground with a clear truck approach, hold units 15 feet or more from food and drinking water, and group them with an accessible model in each cluster.
New Hampshire adds requirements you can check at a glance. Every unit must carry a label with the owner's name and telephone number in permanent legible lettering at least two inches high. Units must be certified by the manufacturer against the recognized design standard. A unit may not be moved on the road with waste still inside it, which is why the crew pumps before the lift.
The contents are septage in this state, and only a permitted septage hauler may carry portable toilet waste over a public road. Deodorant liquids have to be compatible with the receiving treatment plant, and septage mixed with them may not be spread on land at all. Service records showing dates, locations and the final destination are kept for five years. Your account manager confirms the receiving arrangements in writing with the order.
A visit pumps the tank, sanitizes the interior, recharges the deodorizer and restocks paper and soap. Weekly is our baseline on a steady crew, shortened for heavy use, hot weather, food service or public events, and winter stops include freeze protection. Agree the frequency and the removal date with your account manager up front, because the two-week finishing rule makes that date a commitment rather than a guess.

Most Rochester orders are on site within 24 to 48 hours, and three to five days secures a specific model. Fair weekends, graduation and summer tournaments book out far earlier, so think in weeks for those.
Five habits that keep a delivery on time:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Rochester and the Strafford County communities nearby, including Somersworth, Barrington, Farmington, Milton, Lee and New Durham, and south toward the coast and the turnpike. Six of the New Hampshire porta potty pages sit within about 51 road miles and are linked below, which reflects how widely spread this state's cities are rather than any limit on where delivery can be arranged. Whether yours is a mill conversion, a farm event or a tournament weekend, we schedule delivery, service and collection around your dates.
Expect $199–$349 for a standard unit and $200–$300 for an accessible one. Flushing and sink units are $300–$400 each, solar $500–$600, trailers from $1,500, and a washing station $150–$250. Winter access work and long rural routes are quoted openly rather than hidden.
No New Hampshire or Rochester attendance ratio exists, so we plan from the crowd: one unit per 50 guests across about four hours, plus 15 to 20 percent once alcohol is served. Keep 5 percent of each grouping accessible with at least one unit, and add a washing station wherever food is served.
New Hampshire runs no state plan, so the national table applies. One facility covers 20 workers or fewer, then one toilet seat and one urinal per 40 workers, and one of each per 50 once 200 are on site. Washing facilities with soap and towels are required alongside.
Weekly is our baseline, and we shorten it for large crews, hot weather, food service or public use. New Hampshire sets the other end of the schedule: every unit must be serviced or removed within two weeks of the event or project finishing, with thirty days the longest extension allowed.
No City permit covers a unit on your own ground in Rochester. A permit from the Department of Public Works applies once a unit stands on a public highway, a sidewalk or a public parking area, and it is granted where the placement is judged not to be adverse to public travel.
A standard unit is one narrow stall with a toilet, urinal and sanitizer. The accessible model is wider, has a level entry with no step, and carries grab bars with clear floor space for a wheelchair to turn. Public events should include one in every grouping of units.
Our ranges cover roughly three days on site, so a Rochester weekend is the base case rather than a premium. Budget $199–$349 for a standard stall, $300–$400 for a deluxe flushing unit and $150–$250 for a washing station. Remember that the state removal clock still starts once the event ends.
Tell us the project or the event, your zip code and how close the ground sits to water. We will set the layout against the state setback, lock in a removal date that meets the two-week rule, and plan service around the season.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
