Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Reno
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Reno, Nevada, and the Truckee Meadows communities beside it. The units serve construction and warehouse crews out by the Tahoe-Reno industrial corridor, remodels in the older neighborhoods south of the river, ranch and trail work in the foothills, car show and rodeo event weekends downtown, and the staging that goes on every August before the desert.
Your price depends on the unit type, the number of units, how long you keep them, and how often they're serviced. Below are the ranges we quote, the unit counts Washoe County actually publishes, the permits that apply, and how fast delivery can be arranged.
The ranges above assume a standard three-day rental, which is how a Reno event order is written. A single Saturday and a Friday through Sunday run normally cost the same.
Job sites price on four-week cycles instead, with the weekly cleaning visit built in. That suits a long build out on the east side or a subdivision up in the north valleys.
Service frequency is worth thinking about here, because Washoe County rules let the Health Authority reduce the number of units required when the cleaning schedule is more frequent. Sometimes a few extra visits is cheaper than a few extra units, and your account manager can price both ways.
Site access rounds it out. A paved pad near a drive aisle is quick. A unit up a dirt road in the hills, behind a locked gate, or snowed in through February takes the driver longer. Describe the approach and your quote will reflect it.

Request a Quote NowReno is unusual, because Washoe County publishes real tables instead of leaving it to rules of thumb.
Our porta potty calculator is a quick sanity check, and your account manager will line the order up against the county tables for your site.
Match the unit to the people using it. Everything we carry is on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the everyday unit, with a toilet, urinal, paper holder, and sanitizer. It covers crews, yard work, and smaller gatherings.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty enters at ground level, with a wide door, grab bars, and turning space for a wheelchair. Any event open to the public should have one.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty flushes and controls odor better, which guests notice at a wedding or a corporate day.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap, and mirror inside the unit, handy at family events and near food.
The Solar Porta Potty powers its light and fan from the sun, which earns its place on high-desert lots, trail work, and evening events with no outlet.
The Handwashing Station is a free-standing sink with fresh water, soap, and towels. Put one at every food area.
The Restroom Trailer carries several stalls, running water, and heating or cooling, which matters at a shoulder-season wedding in the Sierra foothills.
Not sure of the mix? Tell your account manager about the crowd or the crew and they'll build it with you.
On private ground, like your yard, a driveway, a ranch, or a fenced job site, you normally need no City permit of your own. Other rules still shape the job.
Streets and sidewalks: A unit or container in the City right-of-way runs on an encroachment permit from Public Works. Applications go to the permits team by email or at City Hall, and are processed in three to five days for small jobs and three to five weeks for bigger ones. The permit has to stay on site until the work is signed off, anything in the right-of-way has to be ringed with reflective cones for the whole time, and nothing may block access to a property or sit in a red zone. A lane, sidewalk, or road closure needs a certified traffic control plan. The permits line is 775-334-2548.
Special events: A special event permit application is due at least 90 days before the event, and must be paid up front to be eligible for review. Reserve any park through Parks and Recreation at 775-657-4654 first. Your certificate of insurance and neighborhood notification are both due 30 days out, your vendor list 14 days out, and your site map a week before the review committee meeting. A fire inspection fee applies whenever a public space is used.
Events on private property: Those run on a special activity permit instead, due at least 15 days ahead.
Who holds the service permit: Washoe County requires anyone operating a non-sewered toilet service to hold an annual permit to operate, and anyone pumping the waste to hold a separate permit for each vehicle, carried in the truck. County rules also require every unit to be clearly marked with the name and telephone number of the service. That sits with the supplier, not with you, and your account manager can confirm the details for your order.
If you aren't sure which approval your spot needs, your account manager can point you at the right office before delivery day.
Reno asks a lot of a unit: hot dry summers, cold windy winters, and a lot of dust in between.
Set units on firm, level ground and out of the wind where you can. Decomposed granite and paved pads work well. Loose fill and soft spring ground will let a unit lean. Give the driver a clear approach, and in winter keep the path plowed, because a snowed-in unit cannot be serviced.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service and well back from the Truckee River, irrigation ditches, and storm inlets. On a job site, the county already caps the walk at 300 feet, which is a sensible target at events too. At an event, split units into clusters and leave the accessible ones on firm, flat ground.
County rules set the cleaning floor: a unit in use must be cleaned and sanitized inside, tank included, at least once every seven days, and more often when usage calls for it. Toilet paper has to be available at all times.
Nearly all of the wastewater here goes to the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility, which handles over 80 percent of everything generated in Reno and Sparks plus parts of the county. Built in 1967 and jointly owned by the two cities, it is permitted to treat 44 million gallons a day, and the treated water returns to the Truckee River or goes to irrigation and reuse. County rules say sewage from a non-sewered toilet may be disposed of only in an approved manner. Your account manager can set your service schedule and talk through placement.

Most Reno orders can be delivered within 24 to 48 hours. Three to five days of notice is better, since it lets us hold the right units. For a summer event weekend or a wedding, think in weeks, and remember a City special event permit is due 90 days ahead.
Five things that keep a delivery smooth:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery throughout Reno and the rest of the Truckee Meadows, including Sparks, Sun Valley, Spanish Springs, Lemmon Valley, Verdi, Washoe Valley, Cold Springs, Carson City, and Fernley out along I-80. Whether your project is a midtown remodel, a build in the industrial parks east of town, or ranch work in the foothills, we plan the drop, the service visits, and the pickup around your dates.
A standard unit averages $199–$349 and an ADA-compliant unit averages $200–$300. Deluxe flushing and sink units run $300–$400, solar units $500–$600, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. Unit count, rental length, and cleaning frequency set the total. Your account manager confirms it in your free quote.
Washoe County publishes a table by crowd size and hours. A four-hour event for up to 500 people needs 5 units, and ten hours needs 12. A four-hour event for 1,000 people needs 8. Add a handwashing station by the food and at least one accessible unit.
The county table is stricter than the federal one. It runs 1 unit for up to 15 workers, 2 up to 30, 3 up to 51, 4 up to 72, and 5 up to 93, then one more per extra 20 workers. Workers must not walk more than 300 feet to reach a unit.
County rules set a floor of once every seven days while a unit is in use, and more often when usage calls for it. Each visit pumps the tank, cleans and sanitizes the inside, and restocks paper. A more frequent schedule can even reduce the number of units required, which your account manager can price.
Usually not. A unit on your own yard, driveway, ranch, or fenced job site needs no City permit. A unit in a street or sidewalk needs an encroachment permit from Public Works. The service permits sit with the supplier, not with you. Your account manager can help you check.
A standard unit is one compact stall with a toilet, urinal, and sanitizer. An ADA unit is wider, entered at ground level, and fitted with grab bars and turning space for a wheelchair. Public events need accessible units in each cluster, while units used only by a construction crew are exempt.
A weekend is the usual booking, since our ranges cover a standard three-day rental. A standard unit averages $199–$349, a deluxe flushing unit averages $300–$400, and a handwashing station averages $150–$250. Your account manager confirms the window, the drop time, and the pickup.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We'll size the order against the county tables, set the service visits, and give you a clear number on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
