A container on private property, on a driveway or inside a fenced job site, needs no City permit in Berea.
Public ground is handled by officials rather than by a counter. Berea's code makes it unlawful to cause, create or maintain any obstruction of a street, alley, sidewalk or public right-of-way except as specified by the City Council, the City Engineer or the Street Superintendent. Kentucky does not publish a single statewide table of banned materials the way some states do. Instead it controls disposal by the class of landfill a material may go to, and construction and demolition debris is its own class with its own class of landfill. In practice that means the receiving facility makes the call on anything unusual, which is why it pays to ask before you load rather than after.
Berea's own code is firm on one thing: hazardous waste will not be collected or disposed of in the city or on city property, and anything hazardous generated in Berea has to be removed by other approved means.
