On private property, a driveway or a job site you control, Henderson does not put a container permit in your way. Keeping the unit off the public way is the simplest route, and it is what we aim for on every booking.
If the container has to sit on a street, alley, sidewalk or any part of the public right-of-way, the City's rules change. A temporary or removable obstruction in the right-of-way needs the written approval of the City Manager, and the code is drafted broadly enough that a container counts. Without that approval the City can serve notice, give fifteen calendar days to clear it, then remove it and bill the property owner, or issue a citation heard in district court. An appeal goes back to the City Manager, whose written decision is final.
Downtown is stricter again. Inside the Central Business District no trash, junk or refuse of any kind may be stored on a street or sidewalk at all, with no approval route offered, so a job in the downtown core needs an off-street spot.
For placement questions, call the City of Henderson Solid Waste office at 270-854-2064. It is at 1449 Corporate Court and is open Monday to Friday from 7:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon. The Municipal Center switchboard is 270-831-1200. Your account manager will find the right person and get the approval in hand before we schedule the drop.
