Georgetown's residential collection belongs to one exclusive contractor, and the city bills for it through its water and sewer service, with non-payment ending in a water disconnection. That system is not open to a competing hauler on the city streets, and the penalty for collecting on those streets without authority runs per act of collection.
Then comes the sentence that matters most on this whole subject. The city's own rule says that except through the use of dumpsters, all solid waste generated within the city shall be collected by the exclusive contractor, and that private persons may collect solid waste generated within the city if that waste is collected in a dumpster. The monopoly simply does not reach a container. That is the clearest written opening we have found anywhere in our service area for exactly this product, and it is why a Georgetown job can be served without a fight.
The route in is the city's non-exclusive franchise, which reaches municipal, industrial and commercial waste, construction and demolition debris, hazardous waste, medical waste and recycling. It is open, not capped, and it carries the ten percent of gross revenue described above. Your account manager confirms the current position for your job.
On the destination side, Georgetown publishes no city-run or county-run disposal or drop-off site, and Scott County's own website does not answer from here, so we have no public facility to point you to. The city's public works department lists street sweeping, leaf collection, brush removal and storm drains, and no disposal yard. That is an honest zero rather than a gap we have papered over. Call Building Inspection on 502-863-9802 for the current county drop-off arrangements, and your account manager will confirm which construction and demolition facility your container is bound for and what the material will be charged at before delivery.
Kentucky also registers waste collectors with the county they serve rather than with the state, filed annually. Scott County is the county for Georgetown. We keep those registrations current, and your account manager can confirm the detail.
