Typical renovation debris and household material go in without difficulty. The limits come from South Carolina's landfill rules, from the receiving facility, and from one local transport rule.
State law keeps used oil out of household trash and out of landfills. Electronics have their own rule that reaches both you and the facility, so a television, monitor or computer in a mixed load can get an entire container turned away at the gate. Take them out first.
Hazardous material, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel and anything with asbestos in it are out of a standard container. Whole tires and appliances holding refrigerant need separate handling and should be mentioned when you book.
There is also a city rule about how material travels. North Charleston makes it unlawful to carry garbage or trash through city streets in open vessels or vehicles, and its definition of trash includes building materials from a home improvement job. Containers go out covered, so this is handled, but it is a good reason not to overfill above the rail.
