Most building debris is welcome. The limits come from South Carolina's landfill rules and from what Greenville County will take at the gate.
South Carolina keeps six things out of a household waste landfill: hazardous waste, car and truck batteries, yard trimmings, whole tires, used motor oil, and large appliances. The state also bars computers, monitors, printers, and televisions from landfill disposal, so electronics have to come out of the load.
Greenville County turns away the same items, plus anything that has touched petroleum products and anything that has touched crumbling asbestos material. Paint cans, solvents, fuel, and liquids stay out everywhere.
There is good news too, and it surprises people. Twin Chimneys accepts treated lumber, painted wood including lead-based paint, carpet, and vinyl flooring, which several other states refuse. Brick, block, concrete, shingles, insulation, pipe, siding, and ceiling tile are all fine.
If you have tires, a refrigerator, or a pile of old electronics, tell your account manager when you book so we can keep them separate.
