Fort Mill container loads go to the York County Landfill, run by York County Solid Waste Disposal at 289 Public Works Road, York, SC 29745. It is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon, and the number is 803-628-3186. The site runs to more than 400 acres, handles up to 200,000 tons a year, and weighs every vehicle in and out at the brick administration building.
The county keeps a construction and demolition landfill cell on site and a separate transfer station for household waste, which is trailered to an approved landfill in Richland County. Material is separated at the point of tipping, with its own locations for construction debris, metal, electronics, refrigeration units, brush, tires, and a dedicated spot where "concrete, brick, block, and asphalt" is the only thing placed.
The county is also blunt about what it will not do. Its own service description says the office does not perform residential garbage collection and does not place disposal containers at construction sites, which is exactly the gap we fill in Fort Mill.
For small quantities there are two county collection and recycling centers inside Fort Mill, one on Highway 160 at Baxter and one on Fort Mill Parkway at West Hensley Road. They are for York County residents only and the daily construction debris limit is about half a pickup bed, with no concrete, brick, or block accepted at all. A renovation will not fit.
Your account manager confirms the destination, the current rate, and what the material will be charged as before your container arrives.
