Areas We Service
Prime Dumpster arranges dumpster rental in New York across 56 New York cities, from Long Island and Westchester to Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo. Whether it's an attic clean-out, a new roof, a gut renovation or a construction project, we can set you up with a container, and we work on commercial, industrial and federal sites too.
A few local factors decide the final price. Container size, the type of debris, the spot where the dumpster sits and the facility that accepts the load each play a role.
This page lays out New York price ranges, permit basics, disposal rules and the landfill details that matter for projects around the state.

Your rental includes three parts: we deliver the dumpster, you use it for the rental period, and we haul it away. Details about your job then shape the rest of the quote.
The main ones are container size, the kind of debris, how long you keep the dumpster and the job address. Plaster, tile and concrete add weight quickly, and extra days raise the cost.
Your county matters because New York counties and authorities set their own tipping fees, and that cost carries into your quote. The gap here is wide, since some counties run their own landfill while others truck waste to a distant one.
Two examples of how county disposal differs in practice:
The same ton of debris can cost almost three times as much depending on which county it starts in. Transport to a far-off landfill is a big part of that difference.
Always check the county's official page for current fees. Your account manager can confirm the disposal facility for your address and walk you through what shapes your final quote.
When the dumpster sits on your own property, such as a driveway or a fenced work site, you usually don't need a permit. A container on a street, sidewalk or alley is different. You'll need approval from whoever maintains that road before the dumpster is delivered.
State environmental rules cover landfills and the trucks that haul waste, while the road's owner handles placement. Which office you deal with depends on the road:
New York City, Long Island towns and upstate villages each keep their own rules, and neighboring places can differ a lot. Your account manager can track down the right contact before your delivery date.
Most everyday junk and building debris can go in without trouble. Limits come from what each landfill is licensed to accept, and those licenses follow rules from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
State law keeps several items out of the trash. Since January 15, 2015, landfills and other disposal sites may no longer accept covered electronics such as computers and TVs. Vehicle batteries and many rechargeable batteries are illegal to throw away, and waste tires may not be buried in a landfill. One old monitor tossed on top can cause trouble at the gate, so pull electronics out before loading.
Hazardous waste, free liquids and friable asbestos are barred from standard landfills, as they are across the country. Asbestos must go to a facility approved to handle it.
Local sites add their own limits. Broome County's landfill accepts no waste from outside the county, and it asks customers to call ahead before bringing friable asbestos.
Got electronics, tires, appliances or anything you're not sure about? Ask your account manager where those items belong before you fill the container.
Counties and regional authorities run most disposal in New York, and some truck waste to private landfills. The site used for your load depends on where the project is.
The Broome County Landfill is at 286 Knapp Road in Binghamton. It takes household garbage, construction debris, bulk metals and tires, and it accepts cash or check only.
Sullivan County runs the Sullivan County Transfer Station & Recycling Center at 91 Landfill Drive in Monticello. It's the county site that commercial haulers can use, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Fulton County Sanitary Landfill sits at 847 Mud Road in Johnstown. Commercial customers need a county permit to bring debris there.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation permits these facilities and the haulers who serve them. When you book, your account manager will confirm the facility for your address and any material limits that come with it.

In New York, rentals usually cost $399–$499 for a 10-yard dumpster and $699–$899 for a 40-yard, for a standard five-day rental. The container size, the debris you load and the county landfill or transfer station that takes it all affect your quote. Your account manager confirms tonnage and overage rates before you book.
Not from the state. A container on private property usually needs no permit, but one on a public road does. NYSDOT issues highway work permits on state highways, and the city or town handles local streets. Your account manager can help you find the right office.
Covered electronics like computers and TVs, vehicle and rechargeable batteries, waste tires, hazardous waste, free liquids and friable asbestos. Disposal sites can't accept electronics, so a single TV in the load can create a problem at the gate. Remove those items first.
Every county or authority sets its own fees. Broome County runs its own landfill and charges far less per ton than Sullivan County, which ships its waste to a landfill far upstate. Where your debris is taken can change the disposal cost a great deal.
It's best to leave them out. New York prohibits burying waste tires in landfills, and sites that take them charge separately, such as Broome County's per-tire fee. Set tires aside and ask your account manager where they should go before the container is loaded.
New York disposal charges are set by counties, authorities and facility owners rather than through one statewide per-ton landfill fee, so the cost depends on where your load goes. Your account manager can confirm which facility serves your address and what it charges.
