Areas We Service
Prime Dumpster delivers dumpster rental in Virginia to 31 cities, from Arlington and Leesburg down to Richmond, Roanoke and Virginia Beach. Our containers work for construction sites, reroofing, remodels and moving clean-outs, and we're set up for commercial, industrial and federal projects as well.
The final price reflects your job's local details. How large the container is, what you load, where it's placed and the landfill that accepts it all come into play.
This page lays out Virginia price ranges, who issues street permits, what landfills can and can't take, and the disposal sites that serve different parts of the state.

The prices below reflect general ranges for a standard five-day rental period. Your account manager will confirm tonnage, overage rates, and other specifics before you book.
| Size | Average Price Range | Approximate Dimensions | Common Price Factors |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-Yard Dumpster | $399–$499 | 12' L × 8' W × 3.5' H | Debris weight; heavy materials like concrete reach limits quickly |
| 15-Yard Dumpster | $449–$569 | 16' L × 7.5' W × 4–5' H | Debris mix; combined light and heavy materials affect disposal fees |
| 20-Yard Dumpster | $499–$649 | 22' L × 7.5' W × 4.5' H | Landfill distance; out-of-county loads may carry higher tipping fees |
| 30-Yard Dumpster | $599–$799 | 22' L × 8' W × 6' H | Debris volume; longer rental periods may apply for larger projects |
| 40-Yard Dumpster | $699–$899 | 22–24' L × 8' W × 8' H | Project scope; commercial and demolition loads vary widely by material |
Any rental covers the same core service. The container shows up at your site, stays for the rental period while you fill it, and leaves with us when you're done. Your job's details shape the rest.
Those details are the container size, the debris type, the number of days and the project address. Loads of soil, block or wet lumber hit weight limits early, and every extra day adds cost.
In Virginia, counties, cities and regional authorities run the disposal sites, so tipping fees can change a lot from one side of a county line to the other. Some sites also charge residents and commercial haulers very differently.
Two examples of how county disposal differs in practice:
Those two counties sit side by side in Northern Virginia, yet the same ton of trash costs more than twice as much to tip in Fairfax. That's why a job's county matters so much in a quote.
Rates can change with each budget year, so look at the county's official page for current fees. Your account manager can confirm which landfill or transfer station takes your debris and explain what drives your price.
If your dumpster sits on private property like a driveway or construction lot, you normally won't need a permit. If it has to go on a public street, sidewalk or parking space, you'll need approval from whoever maintains that road before delivery.
In Virginia, the answer depends on who maintains the road in front of your job:
Because many counties rely on VDOT while cities run their own streets, one job can involve different offices depending on the exact address. Your account manager can find the right permit contact before the container is delivered.
Nearly everything from a typical clean-out or building job can go in. The exceptions come from what each landfill's permit allows, under rules set by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
Virginia law makes it illegal to put a used lead acid battery in mixed trash, and each battery counts as a separate violation. Tires must be split, cut or shredded before they're buried in a landfill. Construction and demolition landfills are also limited to building debris, land-clearing debris, split tires and white goods, so household trash mixed into a remodel load can create a problem.
Hazardous waste and free liquids are refused at standard landfills across the U.S., and asbestos from a renovation must go to a landfill or area set up to handle it.
Local sites can be stricter. The City of Hampton's landfill at Big Bethel is open to residents for bulk trash, but building materials are accepted only with a valid Hampton building permit.
Whenever electronics, tires, appliances or questionable items are part of the cleanup, ask your account manager where they should go before the container is loaded.
Disposal in Virginia is handled by counties, cities and regional authorities, along with private landfills. Which site takes your load depends on where the project is located.
The Prince William County Landfill is at 14811 Dumfries Road in Manassas. It's open every day of the week, with longer hours on Thursdays.
The Ivy Solid Waste and Recycling Center at 4576 Dick Woods Road near Charlottesville is run by the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority. City of Charlottesville customers pay a higher service fee per ticket than Albemarle County customers.
In Hampton Roads, the SPSA Regional Landfill sits at 1 Bob Foeller Drive in Suffolk and runs its own tire processing facility.
The Department of Environmental Quality permits Virginia's landfills and sets what each type may accept. Your account manager confirms the site for your address when you book, along with any limits on what it takes.

locations served across Virginia
Virginia dumpster rentals run about $399–$499 for a 10-yard and $699–$899 for a 40-yard, each for a standard five-day rental. Your price depends on container size, the kind of debris you load and the county landfill or transfer station that takes it. Your account manager confirms tonnage and overage rates before you book.
Not from the state. A dumpster on private property usually needs none. On a public road, VDOT handles state-maintained roads, while cities and some counties manage their own streets. Your account manager can help you find the office that covers your address.
Lead acid batteries, whole tires, hazardous waste, liquids and asbestos stay out. Construction landfills also can't take household trash, so a remodel load with the wrong items mixed in can be refused or sent to a different site.
Counties set their own landfill rates. Fairfax County charges commercial customers more than twice what Prince William County charges commercial haulers per ton, and some sites waive fees for residents. The landfill that takes your load affects the total.
Leave them out. Virginia landfills can only bury tires after they're split, cut or shredded, and construction landfills accept split tires only. Set tires aside and ask your account manager where they can go before the container is filled.
Virginia's disposal charges are set by the county, city or regional authority that runs each site, which is why they differ so much from place to place. Your account manager can confirm which facility serves your address and what it charges.
