Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Asheville
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Asheville, North Carolina, and the Buncombe County mountain communities around it. The units serve construction and renovation crews in the River Arts District and along Patton Avenue, hillside home builds in West Asheville and North Asheville, trail and greenway work, brewery and farm projects, and outdoor events of every kind, from a downtown festival to a trail race, a wedding on a mountain property, or a neighborhood block party.
What you pay comes down to the unit you pick, how many you need, how long they stay, and how often a driver services them. Below you will find our ranges, the counts we plan around, the City permits that catch people out here, and how to get units delivered on time.
Those ranges rest on a standard three-day rental, which fits most Asheville weekend events. A Saturday festival and a Friday-through-Sunday one usually land on the same figure, so keep the dates you want.
Longer work is priced differently. A hillside build off Leicester Highway, a mixed-use project downtown, or a greenway contract is normally written in four-week cycles with a weekly cleaning visit included, and the weekly cost falls sharply.
Service frequency moves the number more than anything else. Each visit pumps the tank, washes the unit down, and restocks paper and sanitizer. A humid August week or a two-day festival often calls for a second visit.
Terrain is the local variable. Asheville is built on hills, and a unit set on a steep lot, at the end of a narrow mountain drive, or behind a locked construction fence takes the driver longer to reach than one on a flat paved pad. Your account manager will go through the access with you before the first delivery.

Request a Quote NowBegin with the head count and the hours people will be on site. These are the counts Prime Dumpster plans around:
Asheville publishes no guest-to-restroom ratio, but it does require your site plan to show exactly where the portable restrooms will stand, so the count becomes part of the permit file either way. Settle it before you apply. Our porta potty calculator gives you a working number quickly, and your account manager can sharpen it once they know your crowd and hours.
The right unit follows from who uses it and for how long. Every type is compared on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty handles most work. It holds a toilet, a urinal, a paper holder, and sanitizer, which suits crews, yard projects, and small gatherings.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty gives you a level entry, a wide door, grab bars, and turning space inside. Add one wherever the public is invited, and set it where the ground is flat.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty brings a flushing bowl and much better odor control, which guests notice at a mountain wedding or a brewery event.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink fits a sink, soap, and a mirror into the stall, so nobody crosses the site to wash up.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan on sunlight, which earns its place on trail and greenway work, farm sites, and evening events with no power nearby.
The Handwashing Station is a stand-alone sink with clean water, soap, and towels. Put one at every food area and one near a working crew.
The Restroom Trailer carries several stalls, running water, and heating or cooling. It is the pick for weddings, corporate days, and sites you will hold for months.
Still choosing? Describe your guests or your crew to your account manager and they will build the order.
On private ground, such as your own yard, a fenced job site, or a lot you control, you will not need a City permit just to set a unit. Public ground and organized events are where Asheville asks for paperwork.
Streets and sidewalks: The City requires a temporary closure permit to close all or part of a street or sidewalk, and its own published list of reasons includes placing a dumpster or a portable storage unit in an on-street space, and setting a lift or other heavy equipment to work on a building. A unit in the street or on a sidewalk sits in the same family. You need a traffic control plan and a sketch of the area to be closed.
What it costs: The application fee is $100. On top of that, the permit fee is $50 for one to seven days, $100 for eight to 29 days, and $100 per week once you pass 30 days. Bagging a parking meter is $22 per day per space and goes through Parking Services. Call Transportation and Traffic Engineering on 828-259-5476.
Events on public property: Asheville takes outdoor special event applications by invitation only. You start with a Public Space Inquiry Form, which costs nothing and commits you to nothing, and the City invites a full application from there. A complete package is the form, the fee, and a site plan or route map, filed electronically.
Your unit layout goes on the plan: The site plan has to show temporary additions including portable restrooms, tents, stages, barricades, and generators. A panel from Parks and Recreation, Police, Fire, Risk Management, Transportation, Public Works, and Communications reviews it with Buncombe County and the state transportation department, and raises any critical objections within 14 calendar days. Insurance certificates are due at least three weeks before the date, and missing a deadline can end the process.
Events on private property: A permit may be needed when more than 49 people gather in a way the site is not normally used for, or when there are tents, generators, mobile vending, or open flame. Applications are due no later than 21 days before the event, temporary use permits are only available on nonresidentially zoned land, and they are capped at 180 days a year. The site plan again has to show where the portable restrooms stand.
Unsure which track your event falls under? Your account manager can point you at the right office before a truck is scheduled.
On this terrain, the spot you choose is the whole job.
Find firm, level ground. A unit on a side slope is unpleasant to use and awkward to pump, and Asheville's cut-and-fill lots have plenty of side slope. Leave a clear lane for the service truck, and watch for the three things that cost us a trip here: low branches, tight switchback drives, and gravel that softens after mountain rain.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service and well clear of creeks, storm inlets, and the French Broad and Swannanoa banks. On a job site, keep them within about 200 feet of the work. At an event, break the order into two or three banks instead of one long row, and put the accessible units on the flattest, hardest path you have.
One service visit a week comes with a standard rental, and we add visits for large crews, hot stretches, and multi-day events. Because your site plan shows the City where each unit stands, tell us early if you need a bank moved, since the plan is what the review panel approved.
Asheville's sewer authority publishes no acceptance schedule for hauled restroom waste, so your account manager will confirm where your service truck tips and can set the service rhythm around your busiest days.

Most Asheville porta potty orders can be on site within 24 to 48 hours. Give us three to five days and we can pair the right units with the job. For festival season, leaf season, or a mountain wedding weekend, allow several weeks, because the whole region chases the same dates.
Five habits keep a delivery clean:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Asheville and the Buncombe County communities around it, including Black Mountain, Weaverville, Woodfin, Swannanoa, Candler, Leicester, Fairview, Arden, Fletcher, and Hendersonville. Whether your project sits in the River Arts District, up a ridge off Town Mountain Road, or out along the Blue Ridge Parkway corridor, we plan the delivery, the service visits, and the pickup around your dates.
Budget $199–$349 for a standard unit and $200–$300 for an ADA-compliant one. Deluxe flushing and sink units sit at $300–$400, solar units at $500–$600, and a restroom trailer opens at $1,500. Unit count, rental length, hillside access, and cleaning frequency all move the total, and your account manager settles it in your free quote.
Plan 1 unit per 50 guests across about four hours, plus 15 to 20 percent more when alcohol is served. A 400-guest festival comes to nine or ten units. Asheville sets no ratio of its own, but your site plan has to show where each unit stands.
North Carolina has adopted the federal construction standards, so the federal table applies. Up to 20 workers, one facility is enough. Beyond 20 you need one toilet seat and one urinal per 40 workers, and beyond 200 one of each per 50. Let your account manager know as the crew grows so the order keeps up.
Weekly service is part of a standard rental. On each visit the driver empties the tank, scrubs the bowl and floor, wipes the surfaces down, and restocks paper and sanitizer. Big crews, humid mountain summers, and two-day festivals usually earn two or three visits, and your account manager will set that rhythm.
Usually not. A unit on your own yard, lot, or fenced job site needs no City of Asheville permit on its own. Setting one in a street or on a sidewalk needs a temporary closure permit with a traffic control plan, and a larger private property event can need a temporary use permit of its own.
A standard unit is a single narrow stall with a toilet, a urinal, and sanitizer in it. An ADA unit is wider, has a ground-level entry, and carries grab bars plus space to turn a wheelchair. Accessible units belong in every bank at a public event, while units only a construction crew uses fall outside that rule.
Three days is the rental our prices assume, so a weekend already fits inside it. A standard unit sits at $199–$349 and a deluxe flushing unit at $300–$400, with handwashing stations at $150–$250. Your account manager fixes the window, the drop time, and the pickup with you.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will right-size the order, book the cleanings, and give you a clear number on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
