Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Cornelius
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals throughout Cornelius, North Carolina, and the Lake Norman towns along the north Mecklenburg shoreline. The demand here is residential and commercial construction on the remaining infill between Catawba Avenue and the lake, dock and shoreline work, remodels in the older blocks near Main Street, and events that run from a lakeside wedding to a road race to a festival in one of the town parks.
Your price moves with the model, the quantity, the length of the booking, and how many service visits you buy. What follows is the range card, the count that governs a North Carolina job site, the one legal fact about this product that catches Cornelius customers by surprise, and how quickly delivery can be scheduled.
Guest-facing work is the big price divider around Lake Norman. A fenced crew site is happy with standard units, while a waterfront wedding or a corporate day is usually a flushing unit, a sink unit, or a trailer, and those sit at the upper end of the card. It is worth deciding early which half of the catalog your event belongs in.
Booking length then sets the arithmetic. Our ranges assume about three days on site, so a Saturday-only booking and a full weekend generally price the same. Longer builds move onto four-week pricing with weekly service included.
Access and season close it out. A unit down a long private drive, inside a gated community, or behind a shoreline fence takes more driver time than one near the street. Humid Piedmont summers also move busy sites to two visits a week, and lake-season weekends from April onward are the hardest dates to add a late unit to.

Run the numbers through our porta potty calculator and then let your account manager check them against your crew size or your expected peak.
Pick by who uses it and for how long. Every model is described on the porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the everyday unit on a Cornelius build: one private stall with a toilet, urinal, paper holder, and sanitizer.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is wider, enters at grade, and carries grab bars with turning room. One belongs in every cluster at a public event.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty has a flushing bowl and much better odor control, which is what a lakeside wedding or a company day calls for.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap, and mirror in the stall, so guests do not walk the site to wash.
The Solar Porta Potty powers its light and fan from a roof panel, which helps on a shoreline lot or an evening booking with no power.
The Handwashing Station is the unit federal rules make compulsory on a job site. It stands alone with fresh water, soap, and single-use towels, and it belongs next to any food stand.
The Restroom Trailer arrives with several private stalls, running water, and heating or cooling, which is the right call for a wedding or a long project.
Describe the job to your account manager and they will build the mix.
For a unit on your own land, no. Cornelius publishes no permit for a portable toilet standing on a lot, a driveway, or a fenced site. The event rules are where the Town is unusual, and they reach further onto private ground than most people expect.
Private property and job sites: keep the unit inside your own boundary and clear of the sidewalk. Where a building permit is open, the restroom is part of the site setup. The Public Works Department at Town Hall takes site questions on 704-892-6031.
The Town event permit reaches private property as well as public. The Town's rules cover special events and public assemblies occurring, in whole or in part, on a town street, parking facility, sidewalk, or other public right of way or on private property, where the event obstructs, delays, or otherwise interferes with the normal flow of vehicle or pedestrian traffic. So a large private event that backs traffic onto Catawba Avenue is inside the rule even though the gathering itself is on private ground.
The deadlines are long, and they are the thing to plan around. Applications for a non-expressive special event must reach the Police Department 90 days ahead of a new event, and no less than 60 days ahead of a recurring one. A coordinator may consider a shorter period for good cause where there is no significant risk or burden to the town. An expressive activity event is different and runs on a five-day filing. The Police Department is on 704-892-1363.
Two details in the Town's rules that trip people up. First, the application has to be filed by a natural person rather than by a corporation, so a company event still needs a named individual on the form. Second, issuing the permit does not obligate the town to supply services, equipment, or staff, and where town services turn out to be needed the applicant has to reimburse the town for them as a condition of approval. Budget for that rather than assuming it is covered.
Some events do not need the permit at all. Town-run events, funeral processions, business sales such as a grand opening, garage sales, lemonade stands, and charity car washes are exempt, and so is a gathering of 100 or fewer people on public property unless merchandise or services are offered for sale or trade, in which case a permit is required. A private event held entirely on private property that does not involve public property is also outside the rule.
Not every road in town belongs to the Town. Several through routes in Cornelius are state right of way, where the state transportation department controls encroachment rather than Town Hall, so confirm whose road you are on before you plan a placement near the curb.
Events: since the Town sets no restroom figure, build the count from the planning numbers above. Your account manager can have the unit count, service interval, and delivery and collection times ready before you file, which is the part of the application organizers usually leave blank.
Place units on firm, level ground with a clear route for a service truck. Keep them at least 15 feet from food service, well back from the shoreline and from any storm inlet draining to the lake, and within roughly 200 feet of the crew on a job site. For an event, use two or more clusters along a long site rather than one, and put an accessible model in each.
Now the North Carolina fact that matters more than any permit question here. The state runs a septage management regime through its environmental agency, which permits septage pumping, transportation, treatment, detention, and land application, and the permitted activity expressly includes placing a chemical or portable toilet, along with portable restroom trailers. The permit has to be in place before operations begin. Read that plainly: in North Carolina the act of putting a unit on your site is itself the licensed activity, not just the pumping that follows. A Cornelius customer therefore cannot lawfully take units from an unpermitted operator, which makes the question of who holds the permit part of your own compliance rather than a supplier detail.
Trucks carry identification lettering at least three inches high on both sides, and an operator using someone else's disposal site needs that site owner's written authorization. The practical effect is a documented chain from your site to a treatment works.
The visit itself is straightforward: the tank is pumped, the interior and seat are sanitized, and paper, soap, and towels are restocked. Weekly is our baseline, twice weekly suits hot months and heavy use, and your account manager confirms both the interval and the permitted operator arrangement before the first delivery.

Most Cornelius orders are on site within 24 to 48 hours, and three to five days gets you the specific models you asked for. For a lake-season weekend, a festival, or a race date, work in weeks, because the whole north Mecklenburg calendar fills from spring onward.
Five habits that keep a delivery on schedule:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Cornelius and the Lake Norman and north Mecklenburg communities around it, including Davidson, Huntersville, Mooresville, Denver, Troutman, and the lake communities between them. The pages linked below are the closest porta potty pages we have, and every one of them is a comfortable same-day run from Catawba Avenue.
A standard unit is $199–$349 and an accessible one $200–$300. Deluxe flushing and sink models are $300–$400, solar units $500–$600, and a restroom trailer starts at $1,500. Handwashing stations run $150–$250 and federal rules require one on a work site.
The Town sets no ratio, so start at one unit per 50 guests across about four hours and add 15 to 20 percent where alcohol is served. Keep at least one accessible model. On a long waterfront site your account manager will usually split the units into two clusters.
North Carolina applies the federal rule rather than a state table: one toilet for a crew of 20 or fewer, then one toilet seat and one urinal for every 40 workers above that. A washing facility is required as well. Nothing at state level raises those figures.
Weekly is our standard, and twice weekly is normal in Piedmont summers or on heavy-use sites. Each visit pumps the tank, sanitizes the interior, and restocks consumables. In North Carolina only an operator permitted for septage work may carry it out, which keeps the chain documented.
No. Cornelius publishes no permit for a portable toilet on private ground, including a driveway or a fenced site. One thing to watch: if your event on private property interferes with traffic flow, the Town's special event permit can still apply to the event itself.
A standard unit is a single narrow stall with a toilet, urinal, and sanitizer. The accessible model is wider, has no step at the entry, and adds grab bars with clear floor space so a wheelchair can turn. Public events should have an accessible unit in every group.
Weekend bookings sit inside our standard three-day window, so they price as the base case. Allow $199–$349 for a standard unit, $300–$400 for a deluxe flushing model, and $150–$250 for a handwashing station. Your account manager times the drop and the pickup around you.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will confirm the count, set an interval that holds up through a Piedmont summer, point you at the right office for your date, and price the order on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
