Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in West Lafayette
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across West Lafayette, Indiana, and the Wabash River communities in Tippecanoe County. Student housing construction near campus, lab and plant projects on the north side, game day and move-in weekends, riverfront events, 5K races, and neighborhood block parties all put portable restrooms to work here.
Your price follows the units you choose, the quantity, the rental length, and how often a truck comes by. Below you'll find price ranges, unit counts to plan around, the City offices that handle public ground, and how to get a delivery lined up on your schedule.
Those numbers reflect a standard three-day rental. A one-day tailgate and a Friday-to-Sunday setup usually start from the same figure, so there's no saving in trimming a weekend down.
Construction runs on a different meter. Our long-term rentals go 28 days between collections, which fits an apartment build or a lab fit-out much better than weekend pricing does.
The academic calendar moves prices here more than the weather does. Late August move-in, home football weekends, and race weekends pull units out of the area all at once, so early bookings hold both your date and your rate.
Then there's the site itself. A unit on a paved staging area with a straight approach is quick work. One set behind a construction fence, on a tight street near campus, or out on soft ground by the river takes longer on every visit. Your account manager will explain exactly how that lands in your quote.

Request a Quote NowStart with the number of people and the number of hours, then adjust.
Crowd length matters more than crowd size here. A tailgate that starts five hours before kickoff needs far more capacity than a two-hour reception with an identical guest list. Run the numbers through our porta potty calculator, then have your account manager check the total against your timeline.
Choose around who uses the unit and how long they're there. Every option is laid out on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty handles job sites, yard projects, and informal gatherings. Toilet, urinal, paper holder, hand sanitizer.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty enters at ground level with a wide door, grab bars, and turning room inside. Any event open to the public should have one.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty flushes and holds odor down, which changes the experience at a wedding, a banquet, or a donor event.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap, and mirror inside the cabin, which keeps lines shorter at a catered event.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan from a panel, so it suits a site before temporary power is set or a trail project away from the grid.
The Handwashing Station is a freestanding sink with clean water, soap, and towels. Food vendors in Tippecanoe County have to supply their own, so plan one per booth.
The Restroom Trailer offers several stalls, running water, and climate control for weddings, corporate days, and long-running projects.
Describe the job to your account manager and they'll assemble the right mix.
A unit on ground you own or control rarely needs City approval. Driveways, private lots, and fenced job sites are yours to organize. Public ground is where West Lafayette wants a permit.
City right-of-way: The City counts any city street plus the land on either side of it, sidewalk included, as right-of-way. Construction work there needs a right-of-way permit from the City Engineering Department, submitted with a drawing, a maintenance of traffic plan, and a certificate of insurance naming the City. Engineering has up to ten working days to review it, an incomplete packet restarts that clock, and nothing can start before the permit is issued. Engineering is at Margerum City Hall, 222 N Chauncey Avenue, phone 765-807-8980.
Closing a street, lane, sidewalk, or trail: That needs prior approval from the Board of Public Works and Safety on top of the permit, with a proper traffic plan. Hand-drawn plans are no longer accepted.
Events: The City's special event permit page is still being built out. For now, if your event needs a street closed, the City directs you to the West Lafayette Police Department at 765-775-5200. Start that conversation early.
State roads: US 231 and State Road 26 belong to INDOT rather than the City. Anything on those goes through INDOT's electronic permit system.
Food vendors: Each booth needs its own temporary food establishment permit from the Tippecanoe County Health Department, completed and paid at least 72 hours ahead. The fee is $25.00 for one to three consecutive days and $10.00 for each extra day. The form is blunt about sinks: the vendor supplies its own handwash station on site. Vendors without a valid permit are shut down. Call the department at 765-423-9221.
Not sure whose ground you're on? Your account manager can find the right office before your units arrive.
The spot you pick shapes everything that follows.
Set units on firm, level ground. River bottom land and freshly graded campus-area sites hold water, and a service truck that sinks can't finish the round. Keep the approach straight and clear, watching for low limbs, bollards, and the parked cars that appear everywhere near campus during term.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service and well back from the Wabash, the Celery Bog, and storm inlets. On a job site, drop them within about 200 feet of the work face. At an event, break the units into small groups so lines stay short, and put the accessible unit somewhere paved and flat.
Weekly service is standard: pump the tank, wash and sanitize the interior, restock paper and sanitizer. Big crews and busy weekends often want two visits.
Indiana treats what comes out of a portable unit as septage, and the state environmental agency requires a septage management business permit before a hauler can pump, carry, or dispose of it. It then goes to a permitted treatment plant. In town that's the City's Wastewater Department on South River Road, which runs with operators on duty 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Your account manager can set a service rhythm that matches your traffic.

Most West Lafayette deliveries go out within 24 to 48 hours. Three to five days of notice gets you the exact units you want rather than whatever is available. The campus calendar is the constraint, so home game weekends, move-in, race weekends, and commencement deserve weeks of lead time.
Five habits that keep delivery smooth:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery throughout West Lafayette and the nearby Tippecanoe County communities, including Lafayette, Battle Ground, Dayton, Shadeland, Americus, Romney, and the farms along the Wabash Heritage corridor. Whether your project sits beside campus or out past the interstate, we plan delivery, service, and pickup around your dates.
Standard units average $199–$349 each, ADA-compliant units $200–$300, and deluxe models $300–$400. Restroom trailers start at $1,500. Your total comes down to unit count, rental length, and service frequency. Your account manager will confirm the exact figure during your free quote.
Plan one unit per 50 guests for a four-hour event, then add 15 to 20 percent when alcohol is served. Long tailgates and hot afternoons push that up. Public events need at least one accessible unit, and every food booth should have a handwashing station beside it.
Indiana follows the federal job-site rule. A crew of 20 or fewer needs at least one toilet. Above 20 workers, figure one toilet seat and one urinal for every 40. Place them near the work face and service them weekly. Your account manager can resize the order as your crew changes.
Once a week on a standard rental. The driver pumps the tank, cleans and sanitizes the interior, and restocks paper and hand sanitizer. Heavy crews, multi-day events, and hot weather usually justify a second visit. Your account manager can set that schedule when you book.
Normally no. A unit on your own lot, driveway, or fenced job site in West Lafayette doesn't need City approval. You will need a permit for the city right-of-way, which includes sidewalks, and for a street closure or public event. Your account manager can help you find the right office.
A standard unit is the compact single-stall cabin. An ADA unit is wider, enters flat at ground level, and adds grab bars plus turning space for a wheelchair. Public events should include roughly one accessible unit per 20. Crew-only job sites are not held to that ratio.
Our ranges assume a three-day rental, so a single Saturday and a full weekend usually price the same. Standard units average $199–$349, deluxe flushing units $300–$400, and handwashing stations $150–$250. Your account manager will confirm your delivery and pickup times with the quote.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We'll size the order, plan the service visits, and give you a straight price while you're on the phone.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
