Keep the container on private property, a driveway, a side yard or a construction pad, and no Town approval is needed in Collierville. That covers nearly every residential delivery we make here.
The Town's refuse rules do reach a container once it is in service, in three ways worth knowing. A commercial property has to keep its refuse containers covered, so plan on a tarp or a lid for anything sitting more than a day or two. The Town also sets a standard for collection vehicles that is kinder than most: a vehicle may use either closed beds or coverings that effectively stop refuse scattering over streets and alleys. An open roll-off with a tarp meets that reading, which is not true everywhere.
The third rule is the one to raise early. Collierville prohibits the disposal of refuse in any quantity, by any person, in any place, public or private, other than at the sites designated by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. That is a destination rule rather than a hauling rule, and the designated list is not published on the Town's website, so your account manager confirms the receiving site for your material before the container is dropped.
There is a fourth point that helps you. The Town provides twice-weekly collection for up to three of its own 90 to 95 gallon carts at a commercial address, and anything above that volume is required to be collected in properly secured dumpsters for disposal by other solid waste service companies. In other words the Town itself routes a busier commercial property to a private container. Town Hall is at 500 Poplar View Parkway, and the Planning Division takes questions on 901-457-2360.
