Most Murfreesboro containers go to the Rutherford County Solid Waste Transfer Station at 6025 Landfill Road, Murfreesboro, TN 37130. It is operated by Rutherford County Solid Waste, a county department, and the County publishes its details on its own site. The department takes calls on 615-898-7739.
The hours are unusually generous for a public facility and they shape the working day here. The station opens at 4:00 AM and runs to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, with a short Saturday window from 6:00 AM to noon. An early opening means a container filled late in the afternoon can be tipped first thing the next morning rather than sitting over a weekend.
One current note matters more than the hours. The County states plainly that Haley Road is closed for remodeling and that nobody should go there, with Haley Road operations halted since June 2024. If an older quote or an out-of-date map points a driver at Haley Road, it is wrong. Drivers route to Landfill Road.
The County also runs drop-off centers across Rutherford County for recycling and small household items, including the Leanna center at 4303 Sulphur Springs Rd, Murfreesboro, TN 37129, open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 AM to 5 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 AM to 3 PM. Those are drop-off sites for residents rather than destinations for a container, so nobody should drive a trailer of demolition debris to one.
There is a large private landfill in the county as well. We do not name it here because it is company-run, and your account manager confirms which site your particular load is going to, and the rate that applies, before the container is delivered.
