in Lake Charles
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty rentals across Lake Charles, Louisiana and the surrounding Calcasieu Parish. Southwest Louisiana keeps two very different kinds of demand busy at once: heavy industrial and petrochemical construction, contractor turnarounds and storm rebuilding on one side, and a dense event calendar on the other, from Mardi Gras krewe parades to Contraband Days, festivals on the lakefront and backyard boils.
What you pay depends on the unit, the quantity, the rental length and the service frequency. The sections below set out our ranges, the counts we plan to, the city permit that actually governs an event here, and how to get units standing when you need them.
The ranges rest on a standard three-day rental, which is how most Lake Charles festival and party orders are written. A single-day boil and a full weekend generally land on the same figure.
Industrial and construction work is quoted differently. A plant turnaround, a commercial build on Nelson Road, or a rebuild in one of the older neighborhoods is normally written in four-week cycles with a weekly service visit included, and the weekly rate drops a long way as a result.
Crew size is the big variable in this market. Southwest Louisiana turnarounds can put several hundred workers on one site for a few weeks, which changes the order from a handful of units to a bank of them plus handwashing stations, and the service schedule has to keep pace. Your account manager builds that around the shift pattern rather than the calendar week.
Humidity does the rest. Lake Charles summers are long and heavy, and a site that manages on one visit a week in February will usually want two by July. Access counts too, and a unit at the back of a wet lot takes the driver longer than one near a paved apron.

Request a Quote NowWork from head count and hours on site. Prime Dumpster plans to these numbers:
The state sets the only legal floor that reaches a Lake Charles crowd. Under the Louisiana sanitary code, a gathering of 500 or more running four hours or longer needs at least one toilet for every 200 people, with toilet paper in continuous supply. That is a floor and not a plan, so order to our tighter ratio.
Having read the city code through, there is no Lake Charles unit count and no city event sanitation ratio. The city's parade and special event rules are detailed about throws, drivers, floats and insurance, and silent on toilets. For a plant turnaround the governing arithmetic is the federal table, and for a festival it is the state floor plus our figure. The porta potty calculator gets you started and your account manager finishes the job.
Pick by who opens the door and how long they are there. Our porta potty options page shows them together.
The Standard Porta Potty is the volume unit in Lake Charles, holding a toilet, a urinal, a paper holder and sanitizer. It covers crews, yard projects and smaller events.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty has a step-free entry, a wide door, grab bars and turning space for a wheelchair. Put one wherever the public is admitted.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty offers a flushing bowl and much better odor control, which matters at a wedding or a corporate function.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink fits a sink, soap and mirror inside, removing the walk to a separate station.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan from a roof panel, which pays off on remote tracts and evening lakefront events.
The Handwashing Station is free-standing with clean water, soap and towels, and it is close to mandatory beside food service and on a large industrial crew.
The Restroom Trailer provides several stalls, running water and air conditioning. It suits weddings, corporate events and long-duration project offices.
Weighing the mix? Describe the crew or the guest list to your account manager and the order gets built around it.
On private ground in Lake Charles, including a yard, a driveway, a plant site or a fenced lot, no city permit is normally needed. The city Permit Center issues building, electrical, plumbing, gas and mechanical permits and licenses the construction trades, and none of those reach a placed restroom unit. Reach the Permit Center on 337-491-1200, or the Zoning Office on 337-491-1542.
Parades, festivals and other special events. This is the instrument that governs. No group may conduct a procession, march, parade or public assembly of any kind on a city public roadway without a permit first. The application goes to the mayor or a designee, and the published terms are specific: a permit fee of $375, a general liability policy of at least $100,000 in the aggregate naming the city and its employees as additional insureds, and a separate application for every date. The permit holder is liable for all damage to persons or property arising from the event. Full terms sit in the City code.
A scope point worth having. That permit defines a public roadway as the paved or traveled surface maintained for vehicles or on-street parking, including the roadway shoulders but expressly excluding any sidewalk or neutral ground. So the article is drafted to stop at the roadway edge, and a unit standing on a Lake Charles sidewalk or neutral ground is not covered by it. Separately, city law makes it unlawful to build, maintain or leave any obstruction on any paved street, with no permit route attached to that prohibition at all.
Mardi Gras is a calendar trap, and it is the sharpest local fact here. The Lake Charles Mardi Gras season runs from Twelfth Night on 6 January to the end of Mardi Gras Day. For any event in that season that needs city council approval, the permit application must be submitted no later than 1 July in the preceding year. There is also a first right of refusal for organizers who held a permit the previous season, provided they file by the same 1 July date. An organizer who starts planning in the autumn has missed that season outright for a council-approval event.
Crowds of 500 or more. Louisiana treats these as mass gatherings, needing a written permit from the Calcasieu Parish health unit at least 30 days ahead, held by the operator 72 hours before the start date. The application must include a map showing where every toilet will stand, drawings of the facilities and the sewage disposal, and the attendance you expect. That layout drawing is something we produce as part of a Louisiana event order.
Where a unit stands in Lake Charles is decided by three things: firmness, flood and distance from the work.
Firmness first. The coastal plain here is flat with a high water table, and heavy rain sits on the surface. Choose level ground with a solid approach, and keep away from the soft edge of a lot or a recently graded pad.
Flood second. The city publishes minimum foundation elevation standards tied to the Calcasieu Parish flood study, which tells you plainly how seriously the low ground is treated. Keep units out of drainage swales and clear of storm inlets and ditches.
Distance third, and this is the industrial point. On a plant or turnaround site, walking time is real money. Units set within about 200 feet of the work face keep a large crew productive, and splitting them into clusters near each work area beats one central row. Keep at least 15 feet between any unit and food service, and place accessible units on a firm, flat path.
Weekly cleaning comes with a standard rental, and large crews or a hot July usually need more. Calcasieu Parish rules also forbid depositing refuse of any type on a walkway, thoroughfare or private property, and the state bars emptying a unit onto the ground or into a street, ditch or waterway, allowing the waste through the streets only in tight, enclosed containers. Collection is arranged to a lawful disposal point, and your account manager sets the interval with the site supervisor.

A routine Lake Charles order is usually standing within 24 to 48 hours, and three to five days allows proper matching of units to the job.
Two situations need more notice. The first is a turnaround or a large construction mobilization, where a few hundred units of capacity across southwest Louisiana gets committed quickly. The second is carnival season and the spring festival run, when demand across the city peaks together.
Five things make a Lake Charles delivery run cleanly:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Lake Charles and the Calcasieu Parish communities around it, including Sulphur, Westlake, Moss Bluff, Iowa, Vinton, DeQuincy and Carlyss, and out toward Jennings. Whether your project is downtown, on the lakefront, in one of the industrial corridors west of the river, or on rural parish acreage, the delivery, servicing and collection are arranged to your schedule.
Standard units run $199–$349, ADA-compliant units $200–$300, deluxe flushing and sink models $300–$400, solar units $500–$600, and restroom trailers open at $1,500. Quantity, rental length and service frequency all move the total. Your account manager confirms the figure in a free quote.
Allow one unit per 50 guests over a four-hour period, then add 15 to 20 percent if alcohol is served. A 300-guest festival session comes out at six or seven units. Add a handwashing station at the food, and an accessible unit whenever the public attends.
With no Louisiana state plan, the federal construction standard governs. Up to twenty workers, one facility is sufficient. Past twenty, add one toilet seat and one urinal for every forty, and past two hundred, one of each for every fifty. On a turnaround, tell your account manager the peak headcount, not the average.
A standard rental covers one visit a week. The service crew pumps the tank, washes the bowl and floor, wipes the interior and restocks paper and sanitizer. Southwest Louisiana humidity and large industrial crews often make two or three visits the right call. Your account manager sets the rhythm.
Usually not. Private ground in Lake Charles needs no city permit, and the Permit Center handles building and trade permits rather than placed units. Public roadways are different, and a parade or special event on one needs the mayor's permit, a fee and liability insurance.
A standard unit is a single compact stall with a toilet, a urinal and sanitizer. An ADA unit is wider, enters at ground level with no step, and has grab bars and wheelchair turning space. Events open to the public need at least one per cluster. A closed industrial site does not.
Three days is already built into the ranges above, so a weekend carries no premium. Expect $199–$349 for a standard unit, $300–$400 for a deluxe flushing model, and $150–$250 for a handwashing station. Your account manager confirms the delivery and collection times.
Send us the shape of the Lake Charles turnaround, build or event and your zip code. We will work the count out, set the service visits against your shift pattern, and quote on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager coordinates the whole order, from crew counts and service intervals to the city permit contacts and the delivery window, so your schedule holds.
