Wood, drywall, roofing, flooring, cabinets, fixtures, furniture and general cleanout debris are all fine. The limits come from Wisconsin's recycling law and from the landfill gate.
Wisconsin bans a list of materials from landfilling or incineration outright, and the state says those bans apply everywhere in Wisconsin, including businesses and job sites. The list covers electronics, lead acid batteries, major appliances, waste oil and used oil filters, waste tires, yard waste including brush, and the everyday recyclables: cardboard, office paper, newspaper, magazines, glass containers, aluminium and steel cans, and plastic bottles numbered one and two.
Beloit's own code adds hazardous and toxic waste, chemicals, explosives and ammunition, flammable liquids, liquid paint, fluorescent bulbs and inoperable vehicles to the noncollectible column.
The landfill itself refuses liquid waste, yard waste and concrete, and asbestos, barrels, contaminated soil and industrial process waste all need approval before they are brought in. The City of Janesville also reserves the right to refuse any load. Ask your account manager about any of these before loading.
