Wisconsin has one of the longest banned lists in the country, and it reaches materials most people assume are fine.
The state bans these from landfill disposal: corrugated cardboard, office paper, newspaper, magazines, glass containers, aluminum and steel cans, and plastic containers marked one and two. It also bans electronics, lead acid batteries, major appliances, used oil filters, waste oil, waste tires, and yard waste including grass, leaves, and brush under six inches across. Flattened boxes from a cabinet delivery belong in recycling, not in the container.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos stay out of any container. The City adds that propane and gas tanks, pesticides, herbicides, chemicals, vehicle batteries, and motor oil are never collected at the curb either, and it routes household hazardous waste to the regional sewerage district's collection sites. Latex paint is the one exception the City allows, once it is fully dried or used up.
Tell your account manager what the job will produce and they will flag anything that needs its own route before the container arrives.
