Most remodel and cleanout debris is fine. The limits come from Kansas waste rules and from the county transfer station that takes your load.
Kansas law treats several items as something other than construction debris, even when they come from a job site. That includes friable asbestos, household garbage, appliances that still hold Freon, electrical equipment with hazardous parts, tires, and drums. These items need separate handling.
The Geary County Transfer Station also refuses tires, sewage and sludge, liquids, paint thinners, spray paint and other flammable items, lithium batteries, household and car cleaners, pesticides, grease, and oil. The county sends hazardous waste to its Household Hazardous Waste and Recycling Center instead.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either. Keep them separate and ask about drop-off options.
If you're not sure about an item, ask your account manager before you load it.
