Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Fairfax
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals in Fairfax, Virginia, and the Northern Virginia communities wrapped around it. Renovation and infill construction in Old Town, commercial fit-outs along Route 50 and Fairfax Boulevard, campus and school projects, outdoor concerts, car shows, 5K races, and neighborhood block events all call for portable toilets here.
Your quote reflects the unit types you choose, the number you need, how long they stay, and the cleaning schedule. Coming up: the price ranges we work from, how to size an order, the City approvals that apply on public land, and realistic lead times.
Each of those ranges is based on a standard three-day rental, which is the normal shape of a weekend booking. Construction orders run on four-week cycles instead, with one cleaning visit a week included.
Space is the local complication. Fairfax lots are tight, curbside parking is contested, and Old Town blocks have limited room to swing a service truck. The easier it is for us to reach the unit, the less your delivery and each visit costs.
Guest-facing work also weighs on the total here. A corporate event or a wedding in a small city venue usually wants a deluxe unit or a trailer rather than standard units, and that choice moves the price more than anything else on the list.
Finally, allow for the add-ons. Accessible units, handwashing stations beside food vendors, and extra cleanings on a busy weekend all appear on the quote. Ask your account manager to price the order both ways so you can weigh it.

Request a Quote NowStart with people and hours, then adjust for the setting. Here's what we plan around:
So plan a job site order in pairs. The handwashing facility is a required line item on a Virginia site rather than an upgrade, and the state wants it kept stocked with potable water, soap, and single use towels. The toilet and its sink also have to sit close to each other and stay easy for every worker to reach, which takes some thought on a tight Fairfax lot. A crew that moves between sites and can reach nearby restrooms is the only exception.
There's a paperwork angle too. If food vendors are coming, the event coordinator has to file a layout map showing where toilets and waste disposal sit, so your count and placement need to be settled before that goes in. Start with our porta potty calculator, then let your account manager confirm it.
Choose by the people using it and the length of the job. Each one is described on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the everyday unit for remodels, small commercial sites, and casual gatherings. Toilet, urinal, paper holder, hand sanitizer.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty has a wide door, ground-level entry, grab bars, and turning space for a wheelchair. Include at least one at any event the public can attend.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty flushes and manages odor better, which suits a company picnic, a reception, or a downtown festival.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink carries the sink, soap, and mirror inside, a real help where there's no room for a separate station.
The Solar Porta Potty lights and ventilates itself with solar power. Good for a park site, a trail project, or an evening event with no power nearby.
The Handwashing Station is a freestanding sink with fresh water, soap, and towels. Put one by the food vendors and one where the crew takes breaks.
The Restroom Trailer offers several stalls, running water, and heating or cooling, which is what most corporate and wedding clients in the area expect.
Describe your guest list or crew to your account manager and they'll put the mix together.
Private property is simple. A unit in your driveway, backyard, or on a fenced job site normally needs no City permit. Public land is where the approvals come in.
Fairfax is an independent city, so it maintains its own streets and issues its own approvals. A right-of-way permit covers any disturbance within City roads, streets, and easements, and the City names lane closures and sidewalk closures among the things it applies to. Apply through the City permit portal and call Public Works at 703-385-7810 if you're unsure whether your spot counts. Inspections run through 703-385-7828.
Temporary events have their own track. The City's special events temporary use permit covers car shows, carnivals, circuses, dog shows, festivals, fairs, and fireworks shows, and it allows an event of no more than 10 days in any six-month period. Planning and Zoning takes those at 703-385-7820.
If you want a City venue such as Veterans Amphitheater on Armstrong Street or Old Town Square on North Street, the Parks and Recreation special events office handles the booking at 703-385-7949. Their deadline is the one that will shape your calendar: a completed application and the non-refundable fee are due no later than 90 business days before the event, along with an emergency action plan and proof of insurance. Renters also haul away their own trash and leave the site clean.
Food brings in the County. The Fairfax County Health Department permits temporary food establishments in the county, the City of Fairfax, and Falls Church, with applications due at least 10 days ahead, and the event coordinator files a layout map showing where toilets and waste disposal go. Reach Environmental Health at 703-246-2201. Your account manager can help you pin down the count and placement before that map is drawn.
Choose level, firm ground with room for the truck to stop safely. On narrow city streets, that often means picking a spot inside a parking lot or a job site rather than at the curb. Watch for low branches, tight gates, and cars parked where the boom needs clearance.
Hold at least 15 feet between units and any food service, and keep them clear of storm drains and creek banks. On a job site, place them within about 200 feet of the work. At an event, split them into small clusters so no single line forms, and give the accessible unit a flat, direct approach.
Weekly service is the standard: pump the tank, clean and sanitize the inside, restock paper and sanitizer. Heavy weekend use, larger crews, and summer heat all argue for more frequent visits, and your account manager can build those into the schedule.
Virginia keeps a firm grip on where the waste ends up. Anyone who empties and hauls the contents of a portable toilet is a licensed sewage handler under state rules, and the permit application has to name the facility that will receive the load, include written authorization from that facility's owner, and show that the truck's tank passed a watertight inspection. Ask your account manager if you want the servicing details for your site in writing.

Most Fairfax orders are delivered within 24 to 48 hours. Three to five days is more comfortable, and for anything tied to a City venue, plan months ahead: that 90-business-day event deadline is the real constraint, not the truck.
Five things that keep delivery painless:
Prime Dumpster covers the whole City of Fairfax, from Old Town and the Armstrong Street venues to Fairfax Circle, Mosby Woods, and the corridors along Route 50 and Chain Bridge Road. We also serve the surrounding Fairfax County communities, including Fairfax Station, Oakton, Vienna, Burke, Annandale, Centreville, Chantilly, and Merrifield. City block or county job site, we plan delivery and pickup around your schedule.
A standard unit averages $199 to $349, and an ADA-compliant unit $200 to $300. Deluxe flushing and sink models run $300 to $400, and restroom trailers begin at $1,500. How many units you take, how long you keep them, and how often they are cleaned set the total, which your account manager confirms in a free quote.
Use 1 unit per 50 guests for a four-hour event, then add 15 to 20 percent if alcohol is served. A 100-guest block event needs two or three units, one of them accessible. Add a handwashing station near any food vendor, since your event map has to show where toilets and waste disposal sit.
Virginia sets its own count and the federal table does not apply. Every 20 workers, or any part of 20, calls for one toilet plus one handwashing facility, and a urinal cannot be substituted. A 40-worker site takes two of each. Tell your account manager when the crew grows so the count keeps up.
Once a week on a standard rental. Each visit pumps the tank, washes and sanitizes the interior, and restocks paper and hand sanitizer. Multi-day events, big crews, and hot weather often warrant a second visit. Your account manager sets the frequency at booking and can change it partway through.
Normally no. A unit on your own driveway, yard, or fenced job site in Fairfax needs no City permit. You will need one if it sits in a City street, sidewalk, or easement, or if it's part of a permitted event at a City venue. Your account manager can help you find the right office to call.
A standard unit is a compact single stall with a toilet, urinal, and sanitizer. An ADA unit is wider, enters at ground level, and adds grab bars plus room to turn a wheelchair. Public events should include at least one per cluster of units. Units used only by construction workers are exempt from that rule.
Weekend bookings use the standard three-day period, so a single Saturday usually costs about what the full weekend does. Standard units average $199 to $349, deluxe units $300 to $400, and handwashing stations $150 to $250. Your account manager confirms the delivery window, the service, and the pickup time.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We'll match units to your venue, work out the cleaning schedule, and give you a firm number before the call ends.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
