Most building and cleanout debris loads without any trouble. The real limits come from what the city will not touch and from what the county landfill sorts out at the gate.
Oxford's own non-pickup list is the one to know, because the city says it exists to comply with its state environmental permit. New construction and remodel debris, car batteries and car parts, household garbage, chemicals and their containers, liquids, paint cans, tires, light bulbs, treated lumber, tree stumps, and tree trunks are all excluded from curbside collection, and the city tells residents to arrange another destination for them.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos stay out of a standard container with no exceptions. Alabama also runs a separate scrap tire program, so tires are handled on their own rather than buried in a mixed load.
The county landfill asks that tires, paint, antifreeze, oil, metal, and brush be separated so they can go to its recycling areas instead of the working face. Telling us about any of those when you book means the load gets planned correctly.
If an item has you guessing, check with your account manager before it goes in the container.
