Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Austin
At Prime Dumpster, we run porta potty rentals throughout Austin, Minnesota and the Mower County farmland that reaches out along Interstate 90. The work here comes in three shapes: construction and plant maintenance around the food processing corridor and the industrial park, agricultural and drainage crews working the section roads, and the outdoor events that fill a short southern Minnesota summer, from a park festival to a ball tournament, a county fair weekend or a wedding reception under a tent.
The figure you pay follows the model you choose, the number of units, how long the rental runs and how often a driver returns. Below are our ranges, the crew counts that govern a Minnesota job site, one state ratio that genuinely applies to certain camping events, what the City asks before anything sits in a right of way, and how fast delivery can be arranged.
Each range here is written on a three-day rental, which fits the way Austin weekends run. A Saturday tournament and a Friday to Sunday festival usually land on the same figure, so take the whole window rather than cutting it fine on either side.
Longer work is quoted on a different cycle. A plant project, a road crew on a county line or a drainage job in the fields is priced in four-week blocks with servicing included, and the weekly figure eases after the first block.
The pleasant surprise in Austin is on the paperwork rather than the price list: the City's own fee schedule charges nothing at all for a street event application. The right-of-way permits that do carry a fee are the ones for lane closures and similar work, and your account manager will tell you which conversation you are actually in.

Request a Quote NowMinnesota runs its own workplace safety program, but its construction rules adopt the national standards, so an Austin job site is counted on the national table:
Start with our porta potty calculator and let your account manager tell you whether the state camping ratio or the planning figure is the one your event actually falls under.
Pick by who uses it and how long for. The whole range sits on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the workhorse: one private stall with a toilet, a urinal, a paper holder and sanitizer. Framing, concrete, farm work and small gatherings all run on it.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is wider, enters flat at ground level and carries grab bars with wheelchair turning room. Put at least one at any Austin event the public can attend.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty adds a flushing bowl and stronger odor control, which guests notice at a tent reception or a milestone party.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink builds the sink, soap and mirror into the stall, useful where a separate sink has nowhere to stand.
The Solar Porta Potty powers its own light and vent from a roof panel, which earns its place on a field site with no power and at an event running past dusk.
The Handwashing Station is a freestanding sink with clean water, soap and towels. The national rule expects one at a place of employment, and food vendors need one within reach.
The Restroom Trailer arrives towable with private stalls, plumbed water and heating, which is the difference between comfortable and miserable at a shoulder-season Minnesota event. It needs a firm level spot to park.
Give your account manager a headcount or a guest list and they will build the mix.
On private ground, a yard, a driveway, a farm or a fenced site, a portable toilet in Austin normally needs no City permit. The City's rules begin at the edge of the right of way, and the wording there is broad enough to catch portable toilets squarely.
An obstruction permit is required in the right of way. The City's right-of-way ordinance defines obstructing as placing any tangible object in a right of way so as to hinder free and open passage over it or to hinder maintenance of a city asset, and it requires an obstruction permit before anyone may do that. The permit covers a period of 365 days or less and is not needed separately if you already hold a valid excavation permit for the same project. A portable toilet is plainly a tangible object, so a unit on a street, a boulevard or a sidewalk needs one.
What the schedule says, and what it does not. The City's published right-of-way fee schedule prices obstruction permits by category, with a lane closure at $60.00 and a permit extension at $30.00, and it charges no fee at all for a street event application. There is no line on the schedule for a portable toilet, so which category applies is a question for Engineering rather than something to assume. The City of Austin Engineering Department is at 500 4th Avenue NE on 507-437-9950, and City Hall is on 507-437-9940, open Monday to Friday 7 am to 5 pm.
Events. The City runs its special event application through a hosted online form and publishes no restroom requirement with it: no guest ratio, no accessible percentage, no handwashing ratio and no filing deadline counted in days. That is a finding rather than a gap, and it means your count comes from planning. Worth knowing too: the City does not rent out portable toilets itself, so there is no municipal alternative to compare against.
Who may pump the unit. Minnesota licenses this and the customer gets something out of it. State rules authorise a licensed maintenance business to remove solids and liquids from toilet waste treatment devices and to transport the waste for disposal at a treatment facility, require a certified maintainer to train and supervise the work, and require a written pumping record naming the date, the gallons removed, the method of disposal and the reason for pumping, given to the owner within 30 days and kept by the business for five years.
Not sure what applies to your site? Your account manager will go through it before you book.
Austin sits on flat prairie ground beside the Cedar River, which makes placement simple most of the year and demanding in two seasons.
Set units on firm, level footing with a straight pull-in for the service truck. On a farm or a field event that means the edge of a gravel approach rather than the middle of a planted field, because spring thaw will hold a wheel for days. Keep units clear of field tile outlets, river banks and storm inlets, back from food service and off saturated ground. Through winter, choose a spot the plow will not bury. On a crew site, keep the toilet and the sink together near the work.
Weekly service is our baseline. Larger crews, high summer and multi-day events earn a second visit, and every visit means the tank pumped out, the bowl and floor scrubbed, surfaces wiped and fresh paper and sanitizer left behind.
The pumping and disposal side is the crew's job. The driver empties the tank into a sealed truck and takes the waste to a facility that accepts it, and nothing is discharged on your ground. Minnesota also expects a written pumping record to reach the property owner within 30 days, so there is a paper trail you can keep. Your account manager will set the schedule before the first delivery.

Most Austin orders can be standing on site within 24 to 48 hours, and three to five days lets us bring the exact mix instead of the nearest match. County fair season, summer tournaments and the short construction window all pull on the same trucks, so call early for a July or August date.
Five habits that keep an Austin delivery clean:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Austin and the Mower County communities beside it, including Lyle, Brownsdale, Lansing, Rose Creek, Adams, Dexter and Grand Meadow. Our nearest sister city pages sit a real drive away up Interstate 35 and along the river rather than next door, so we plan routing and service visits around that distance instead of pretending it away.
Standard units run $199–$349 and accessible units $200–$300. Deluxe flushing and sink models land between $300–$400, solar units between $500–$600, handwashing stations $150–$250 and restroom trailers open at $1,500. Count, rental length and service frequency drive the total, and a cold Minnesota date often calls for a heated trailer. Your account manager confirms it in a free quote.
Austin publishes no ratio, so the number is planned. One unit for every 50 guests across about four hours is our working figure, with 15 to 20 percent more where alcohol is served and an accessible unit whenever the public is invited. A licensed camping event follows the state ratio instead, and your account manager will say which applies.
Minnesota adopts the national construction rule, so one facility covers a crew of 20 or fewer, then one toilet seat and one urinal are added for each 40 workers above that, and one of each per 50 above 200. A sink is required at a place of employment too. Give your account manager the crew size.
Weekly service is our standard here. Every stop means the tank pumped out, the bowl and floor scrubbed, surfaces wiped and fresh paper and sanitizer left in place, and Minnesota expects a written pumping record to follow. Big crews and multi-day Mower County events usually justify a second visit a week.
Usually not. A unit on ground you own or farm needs no City permit in Austin. A placement in the right of way does, because the City defines obstructing as placing any tangible object there and requires an obstruction permit for up to 365 days. Your account manager can check which applies to your spot.
A standard unit is one narrow stall with a toilet, a urinal and sanitizer. The accessible model is wider, enters at grade with no step and carries grab bars plus turning space for a wheelchair. Federal design standards land near one accessible unit in twenty. A closed crew site with no public access is treated differently.
A weekend is the usual measure, because each range here covers a three-day rental. Standard units sit between $199–$349, deluxe flushing models between $300–$400 and handwashing stations between $150–$250. Your account manager will confirm the delivery window and the collection day.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will size the order, say whether the state camping ratio touches your event, point you at the right permit line, and give you a clear figure on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
