Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Cottage Grove
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Cottage Grove, Minnesota, and the river towns along the lower Mississippi. Units go out to construction crews working the new neighborhoods south of Ravine Parkway, to contractors building in the business park, to graduation parties and family reunions at the city shelters, and to any outdoor event where the nearest restroom is a long walk away.
What you pay comes down to the unit you pick, how many you need, how long they stay, and how often a truck comes by to service them. Below are our price ranges, the counts we work from for crews and crowds, the City permits that matter here, and how to time your delivery.
Those numbers cover a standard three-day rental. A Saturday graduation party and a full weekend booking usually land on the same price, so there is nothing to gain by shortening your dates.
Job sites work differently. A house addition off 80th Street or a long build in the business park is normally written in four-week blocks with a weekly cleaning visit built in, and the weekly cost drops a long way once the rental runs that long.
Service frequency is the next thing that moves the price. Each visit pumps the tank, washes the unit down, and restocks paper and sanitizer. A big crew in July, or a two-day tournament, usually wants a second visit in the same week.
Winter matters here too. A unit that sits through January needs a drop spot the truck can still reach after a plow has been through, and sites that get buried behind a snow pile cost more to service. Your account manager will walk through each of these with you before you commit.

Request a Quote NowStart with how many people, and for how long. These are the counts Prime Dumpster plans around:
Neither the City of Cottage Grove nor the State of Minnesota publishes a required number of portable restrooms for an event, so the guest count above is the planning figure to use. The federal rules also expect washing facilities with soap and towels wherever crews work, which is why a handwashing station belongs next to every cluster of units. Our porta potty calculator gives you a quick starting number, and your account manager will tighten it up once they know your hours and your crowd.
What you should order depends on who uses it and for how long. We keep the full lineup on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty covers most of what is delivered here. One stall, a urinal, paper and sanitizer, and it suits crews, yard projects and small gatherings.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is the wider unit with a flat entry, grab bars and room to turn a wheelchair. Any event the public can walk into should have at least one.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty adds a flushing bowl and much better odor control. Guests notice it at a wedding or a milestone birthday.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap and a mirror inside the stall, so nobody crosses the lawn to wash their hands.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan off a solar panel. It fits rural lots out toward the river and evening events with no power nearby.
The Handwashing Station stands on its own and holds clean water, soap and paper towels. One belongs by any food line and one where the crew eats lunch.
The Restroom Trailer brings several stalls, running water and heat or air conditioning. It is what we send to weddings, company events and sites held for months at a time.
Still weighing the mix? Walk your account manager through the guest list or the crew, and they will put the order together.
On private ground, such as your own yard, a driveway, a fenced job site or a farm lot, you will not normally need a City permit in Cottage Grove. That changes the moment a unit sits on public ground.
Streets, boulevards and sidewalks: Anything placed in the public right-of-way needs a permit from the City before it goes in, and the City charges $225.00 plus $0.21 for every lineal foot of obstruction. Both excavation and non-excavation permits are filed through the City's online permit page, and the Engineering Department takes questions at 651-458-2881. Extending a permit costs another $75.00.
Organized events: The City treats an entertainment or celebration of limited duration as a special event, whether it is on public or private property, and so is any event that needs extra city services, creates parking or traffic problems, or leans on city infrastructure. The permit costs $100.00 and applications go to Business Licensing at 12800 Ravine Parkway South. Walks, runs, races and parades also need Public Safety sign-off. Start at the City's special events page or call the City Clerk at 651-458-2883.
Park shelters and buildings: Renting a city shelter or building is its own reservation, booked online, with a pavilion or shelter at $77.00 a day for residents and $103.00 for non-residents. Worth knowing before you book: the City says not all shelters have restrooms, water or electricity, which is exactly when renting units pays for itself.
One scheduling trap: during the spring thaw the state limits truck weights on city roads, and a permit approved by the Street Department is needed before heavy trucks run on them. That can shift a delivery or a service visit by a day or two in March and April.
Unclear who owns the ground you have in mind? Ask your account manager, and they will track down the office that answers for it.
Where a unit stands decides how well it holds up through a Minnesota year.
Pick firm, level ground. A unit on a slope is miserable to use, and soft ground near a ravine or a wet spring field can bog down a service truck. Leave the driver a clear lane with no low branches, narrow gates or parked cars in the way.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service and well away from storm drains, wells and open water. On a job site, keep them inside roughly 200 feet of the work, or your crew spends paid time walking. At an event, break them into two or three groups rather than one long row, and give the accessible units a flat, firm path.
One cleaning visit per week comes built into a standard rental. Big crews, August heat and two-day events usually call for more. In deep winter, ask for a spot the plow will not bury.
The company that empties your units must hold a state license. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency requires owners to use state-licensed maintenance businesses, and it says waste may go to a permitted treatment plant only when that plant agrees to take it, so the pumper has to clear acceptance, cost and conditions with the plant first. Spreading that waste on land is allowed only by a licensed maintenance business and only where local rules permit it. Around here the regional system is run by Metropolitan Council Environmental Services, which operates the interceptor pipes and all nine water resource recovery facilities in the seven-county metro area, Eagles Point among them. Talk placement and visit frequency through with your account manager before the first drop.

Most Cottage Grove porta potty orders can be on site within 24 to 48 hours. Give us three to five days and we can match the exact units to the job. For a graduation weekend in late May and early June, a summer festival date or a fall wedding, give us several weeks, because that is when the whole east metro orders at once.
These five tips keep a delivery smooth:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Cottage Grove and the river and east metro communities nearby, including Woodbury, Hastings, South St. Paul, Inver Grove Heights, Saint Paul, West St. Paul, Newport, St. Paul Park, Afton, Denmark Township and Grey Cloud Island. Whether your project sits in an older neighborhood north of 80th Street, out in the newer developments by Ravine Parkway, or on a rural tract near the river, we build the delivery, service and pickup around your dates.
Figure $199–$349 for a standard unit and $200–$300 for an accessible one. The deluxe flushing and sink models sit at $300–$400, solar units at $500–$600, handwashing stations at $150–$250, and trailers open at $1,500. How many units, how long, and how often they are cleaned decides the rest. Your free quote pins all of it down.
Work from 1 unit for each 50 guests over roughly four hours, then lift that by 15 to 20 percent if there is a bar. Cottage Grove does not publish its own event ratio, so that planning figure is what we work from. Add a handwashing station near food and at least one accessible unit for a public event.
Minnesota's state safety plan reaches public employers only, so a private crew here answers to the federal table. Twenty workers or fewer means one facility. From 20 up it is one toilet seat and one urinal for each 40 workers, and from 200 up one of each per 50. Washing facilities are required as well.
A standard rental buys one visit a week. The crew empties the holding tank, scrubs the bowl and floor, wipes down every surface and puts fresh paper and sanitizer in. Large crews, humid July weeks and weekend tournaments usually need two or three. Ask your account manager to set a schedule that matches the job.
Usually not. A unit on your own yard, driveway, farm or fenced job site needs no City of Cottage Grove permit. You do need a right-of-way permit to place one in a street, boulevard or sidewalk, and an organized event needs a special event permit whether it is on public or private ground. Your account manager can help sort out which applies.
The standard model is a narrow single stall holding a toilet, a urinal and sanitizer. The accessible model is noticeably wider, entered at ground level, fitted with grab bars and open enough inside to turn a wheelchair. Federal design standards use about one in twenty as the public event benchmark. Crew-only units on a job site are exempt.
A weekend is the normal unit of measure here, because our ranges already assume a three-day rental. Expect $199–$349 for a standard model and $300–$400 for a deluxe flushing one, with handwashing stations at $150–$250. Delivery window, cleaning visit and pickup time all get settled with your account manager.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will work out the unit count, lock in the cleaning visits, and quote you a straight number while you are on the phone.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
