Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Bay City
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Bay City, Michigan, and the Saginaw Bay communities around it. The units serve construction and road crews along I-75 and Euclid Avenue, shipyard and industrial work on both banks of the Saginaw River, sugar beet and bean farms out in Bay County, and the long run of riverfront events that fills the summer, from the Fireworks Festival to a tall ship weekend or a block party in the Midland Street district.
What you pay comes down to the unit you pick, how many you need, how long you keep them, and how often a truck comes to service them. Below you will find our price ranges, the counts Michigan sets for a job site, the City permits that apply here, and how to get units on site on time.
Every range above assumes a standard three-day rental, which is how most Bay City event orders are written. A single Saturday and a full Friday to Sunday booking usually come to the same number, so there is nothing to gain by trimming your dates.
Longer work is priced differently. A build in the Midland Street business district or a plant shutdown on the east side is normally billed in four-week cycles with a weekly service visit included, and that brings the weekly cost down a long way.
Season is the local lever. Bay City sells out its riverfront in July, and a January job site needs winterized units, more antifreeze in the tank, and a driver who can still reach the drop point through snow. Both ends of the year carry their own costs.
Access finishes the picture. A unit on a paved lot near the curb is fast to place and fast to pump. A unit behind a locked industrial gate, out on a soft field, or down a narrow alley takes the driver longer, and your quote will show it. Your account manager will go through all of it with you.

Request a Quote NowWork out the head count first, then the hours. Those two numbers drive everything else, and these are the figures we build a Bay City order on:
That second point is the one contractors miss. The federal construction rule would let a crew of 21 to 40 get by with one toilet seat and one urinal. Michigan asks for two full toilets, and it wants warm wash water on site rather than only where paint or chemicals are handled. Our porta potty calculator gives you a quick starting figure, and your account manager will check it against your crew or guest list.
Picking the unit is mostly about who opens the door and how long they are on site. You can compare the whole lineup on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the workhorse of the fleet. Inside there is a seat, a urinal, a paper holder, and sanitizer, which is all a framing crew or a backyard graduation party needs.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is built wide, with no step at the door, grab bars inside, and enough floor to turn a chair. Any gathering open to the public should have one.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty adds a working flush and far less smell. At a riverfront reception in August, guests notice the difference straight away.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink carries its own sink, soap, and mirror, which keeps guests from tracking across a parking lot to clean up.
The Solar Porta Potty powers its own light and vent fan from the sun. On county drain work, a beet field, or an evening river event with no outlet anywhere, that is the one that works.
The Handwashing Station stands on its own and carries clean water, soap, and towels. Michigan effectively expects one on a job site, and you want one beside every food booth.
The Restroom Trailer is a different class of thing: several stalls, plumbed water, and climate control. For a wedding, a company day, or a site you will hold through a Michigan winter, it is the comfortable answer.
Weighing two options against each other? Walk your crew size or guest list past your account manager and they will spec the mix.
On private ground, such as your own yard, a driveway, a farm, or a fenced job site, you will not need a City permit for a unit in Bay City. Public ground is where the rules start.
Streets, sidewalks, and the right-of-way: the City is unusually clear about this. Its own guidance says an encroachment permit is needed to place an object or occupy the public right of way for a short or long period, and that the Engineering Division runs the process. The current license and fee schedule sets the administration fee at $25.00 for a temporary encroachment of less than 90 days, or $50.00 for anything longer. Remember that the right of way usually runs about one to two feet behind the sidewalk, so a unit set just off the walk can still be on City land. Engineering is at City Hall, 301 Washington Avenue, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the city line is 989-894-8200.
Events: the City Clerk's Office handles the special event application, and the form asks you to list your sanitation facilities, meaning wash stations and porta potties, say how many you are providing, and mark them on your event map. File more than 60 days ahead. The fee is $100.00 if you apply more than 75 days out and $150.00 if you apply 60 to 74 days out. The City's policies also put all wash station and porta potty costs on the event organizer, so budget for them from the start. The Clerk's Office is at 301 Washington Avenue, Suite 204.
Food vendors: the Bay County Health Department licenses temporary food establishments, which can run at a fixed spot for up to 14 days. Vendors need their own license, and they will need handwashing beside the booth.
If you are not certain who owns the strip of ground you have in mind, your account manager can find out and put you in touch before the truck rolls.
A good placement is half the job, and it shows up every single day of the rental.
Choose ground that is solid and flat. Bay County sits low and holds water, and a spring thaw turns a field into something no service truck should drive on. The driver also needs a straight run in, free of low branches, narrow gates, and parked cars.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service, and well clear of the river bank, drains, and storm inlets. On a job site, set them within about 200 feet of the work so nobody loses half a break walking. At an event, split them into two or three groups rather than one long row, and put the accessible units on a hard, flat path.
Winter deserves a plan of its own. Ask for winterized units from late November, keep the door out of the prevailing wind off the bay, and make sure the drop spot will still be plowed when the service truck comes. Michigan rules require a toilet to be serviced and maintained on a regular basis, and a frozen path is the usual reason that slips.
Weekly service comes with a standard rental. On each stop the tank is pumped out, the bowl and floor are washed down, the surfaces are wiped, and the paper and sanitizer are topped up. Big crews and two-day festivals usually step that up to twice. City sewage goes to the Bay City Wastewater Treatment Plant at 2905 N Water Street, which runs around the clock and discharges about 6.9 million gallons of treated water a day. The plant office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and answers at 989-891-1200. Run your site layout past your account manager and they will lock in the visit days with you.

Most Bay City orders reach the site inside 24 to 48 hours. Give us three to five days and we can match the exact units to the job instead of sending what is closest. For the Fourth of July week, a river festival, or a summer wedding, give us several weeks, because the whole Tri-Cities area books the same dates.
Five things make a Bay City delivery go cleanly:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Bay City and the Bay County communities nearby, including Essexville, Bangor Township, Monitor Township, Hampton Township, Kawkawlin, Auburn, Linwood, and Pinconning, plus the wider Tri-Cities area down toward Saginaw and west to Midland. Whether your site is a riverfront festival, a township farm, or a plant on the east side, we build the delivery, service, and pickup around your dates.
Standard units average $199–$349 and accessible units average $200–$300. Expect $300–$400 for a deluxe flushing or sink unit, $500–$600 for solar, and $1,500 and up for a restroom trailer. How many units, how long, and how often they are serviced set the final figure, which your account manager prices in a free quote.
Work on 1 unit per 50 guests for a four hour window, and raise that by 15 to 20 percent if there is a bar. A 300-guest festival day normally needs six or seven units. Put a handwashing station next to the food, and include an accessible unit when the public is invited. Your account manager checks the final mix.
Michigan sets its own table. You need 1 toilet for up to 20 workers, 2 toilets for 21 to 40, and one more for each extra 40 workers or part of 40 above that. A washing point with warm running water, soap, and towels is required as well. Let your account manager know as the crew grows.
Weekly service is what comes with a standard rental: pump out, wash down the bowl and floor, wipe the surfaces, restock paper and sanitizer. Michigan rules require servicing on a regular schedule, and heavy crews or two-day festivals usually go to two or three stops a week. Your account manager will set that with you.
In most cases, no. Put a unit on your own yard, driveway, farm, or fenced job site and the City of Bay City asks nothing of you. Place an object in the public right of way and you need an encroachment permit from the Engineering Division. Remember the right of way can reach a foot or two past the sidewalk, so check before you set a unit.
The standard is a narrow single stall holding a seat, a urinal, and sanitizer. The accessible version is noticeably wider, has no step at the door, adds grab bars, and leaves room to turn a wheelchair inside. Every cluster at a public event should include one. Crew-only units on a closed job site are exempt.
Three days is the basis for every range we quote, so a weekend is already the standard booking. Figure $199–$349 for a standard unit, $300–$400 for a deluxe flushing one, and $150–$250 for a handwashing station. Your account manager pins down the drop time, the service stop, and the pickup.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. One call is usually enough to settle the unit count, the service days, and the price.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
