Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Garden City
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals in Garden City, Michigan, and right across the western Wayne County suburbs. Units land on construction and renovation jobs along Ford Road and Middlebelt, roof and driveway work on the tight residential blocks that make up most of the city, small commercial fit-outs in the Merriman corridor, and events in the City parks, from a softball tournament to a neighborhood festival.
Your total depends on the unit, the number of units, the rental length, and how often a truck comes back to pump and clean. Below you will find our ranges, the counts Michigan law puts on a job site, what the City charges for park events, and how fast we can get on site.
Each range covers a three-day rental, which is how most Garden City weekend orders get written. A Saturday graduation party and a full weekend normally cost the same.
Construction work is different. A tear-off and rebuild on a Garden City lot, or a storefront remodel on Ford Road, is quoted in four-week cycles with service included, and the weekly rate falls once the first cycle is done.
Michigan adds a second item that contractors from other states often miss. The state requires a lavatory with running water, soap, and individual towels at every place of employment, not just where paint or chemicals are handled. On a Michigan job site a handwashing station is part of the order rather than an upgrade.
Winter is the other local factor. Frozen ground, snow banks, and plow routes all affect where a unit can sit and whether a service truck can reach it. We would rather talk that through before delivery than move a unit twice. Your account manager will build all of it into one number.

Request a Quote NowMichigan writes its own construction rule, and Garden City handles events with a threshold rather than a ratio:
Our porta potty calculator will give you a number in a minute, and your account manager will square it with the crew split or the guest list.
Choose on who uses it and for how long. The full range sits on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the everyday unit: a private stall with a toilet, a urinal, a paper holder, and sanitizer. Most Michigan job site counts are met with these.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is wider, enters flat with no step, and has grab bars and wheelchair turning space. Put one in any order the public will use.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty gives guests a flushing bowl and much better odor control, which shows at a graduation or a wedding.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap, and a mirror inside the stall, which guests appreciate and which helps on a small site with no water.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan from a roof panel, useful on a dark winter afternoon or an evening event with no outlet.
The Handwashing Station is a free-standing sink with clean water, soap, and towels. In Michigan this is what satisfies the lavatory requirement on a job site.
The Restroom Trailer tows in with several private stalls, plumbed water, and climate control, which makes winter events and long-running sites far more comfortable.
Still weighing options? Give your account manager the headcount and they will set the mix.
On private ground, such as your own driveway or a fenced job site, Garden City does not permit the unit itself. Public ground and organized events are a different matter, and so is any street closing.
Organized events: Anyone running a special event on City-owned property, a right of way, or a public street must obtain a Special Event Permit in advance for any group of 150 or more, including events open to the public where the turnout is unknown. The City asks that events be scheduled and paid for 30 days ahead; shorter notice may be considered but is not guaranteed. A detailed map showing the exact location of the event has to go in with the application, and large events carry a refundable security deposit.
The City's own restroom charge: This is the part to plan around. For park events above 150 people the City adds an automatic porta john fee of $300 to the rental, covering two units, and asks you to state where you would prefer them placed. That fee is published in the City's special event policies along with the pavilion rates. If you want a different mix, more units, accessible units, or a handwashing station, raise it with the Parks office and with your account manager at the same time so you are not paying twice.
Closing a street: A street closing needs approval by City Council resolution, not a counter permit, so allow time for a meeting date. You also have to arrange access for businesses and residents on the street, list the streets and barricades on the application, and obtain a permit from Wayne County if a county roadway is involved.
Park restrooms close early: The City is blunt that public park restrooms close at 8 p.m. with no exceptions, so an evening event needs portable units whatever the headcount.
Parks and Recreation sits at 200 Log Cabin Road and the number is 734-793-1850. Not sure whose ground you are on? Your account manager can find out before you book.
Placement in a built-up suburb is mostly about access and the weather.
Set units on level, firm ground where the truck can pull up alongside. Garden City lots are narrow and driveways are often shared, so the best spot is usually near the street end of the driveway rather than deep in a back yard. Keep the door clear of fences, gas meters, and low branches.
Keep units away from food service, drinking water, and storm drains. On a job site, place them close enough to the crew that people use them, with the handwashing station standing beside the toilet rather than inside it. At an event, spread units into small groups with an accessible unit in each, and mark their location on the site map the City asks for.
Winter needs its own plan. Keep units off the snow route, out of the plow line, and clear of roof drip lines, and tell us if a gate gets locked after hours. In deep cold we may recommend a slightly different mix and a tighter service interval.
Weekly service is the baseline, and Michigan law also requires that a construction toilet be serviced and maintained on a regular basis and kept stocked with paper. Each visit means the tank pumped, the bowl and floor scrubbed, the surfaces wiped, and paper and sanitizer replaced.
Michigan treats portable toilet waste as septage, which means only a state-licensed septage waste servicer may pump your units, each truck is licensed separately, and the waste has to go to an authorized receiving facility. Your account manager will confirm the service days and the approved disposal point before the first stop.

Most Garden City orders can be on site within 24 to 48 hours, and three to five days gives us room to match the mix. Graduation season, summer festival weekends, and the first warm weeks of spring all tighten supply across metro Detroit, so book those out.
Five habits that keep a delivery smooth:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Garden City and the western Wayne County communities around it, including Inkster, Westland, Dearborn Heights, Livonia, Romulus, Taylor, Allen Park, Dearborn, Redford, and Wayne. Whether the job is a tear-off on a residential block, a storefront on Ford Road, or a tournament weekend at City Park, we plan the delivery, the service visits, and the pickup around your dates.
A standard unit runs $199–$349, an accessible unit $200–$300, and deluxe flushing or sink models $300–$400. Solar units sit between $500–$600, handwashing stations between $150–$250, and restroom trailers begin at $1,500. Unit count, rental length, and service frequency set the total, which your account manager confirms in a free quote.
Garden City publishes a threshold rather than a ratio: 150 people triggers a Special Event Permit and the City's own restroom charge for park events. For a private party we plan on one unit per 50 guests over about four hours, with more where alcohol is served. Your account manager will size it with you.
Michigan is stricter than the national table. One toilet covers 1 to 20 employees, two are required for 21 to 40, and one more for each additional 40 or fewer. The state also wants a lavatory with running water, soap, and towels at every place of employment. Tell your account manager the crew size.
Weekly service is the baseline, and Michigan requires a construction toilet to be serviced and maintained regularly and kept supplied with paper. Each visit means an emptied tank, a scrubbed bowl and floor, wiped surfaces, and fresh paper and sanitizer. Busy sites and multi-day events justify extra stops.
No. A unit on your own driveway or a fenced job site needs no City of Garden City permit. A permit comes in once you are on City property, a right of way, or a public street, or once you are running an event of 150 or more. Your account manager can tell you which applies before you book.
A standard unit is one narrow stall with a toilet, a urinal, and sanitizer. The accessible model is wider, enters at grade with no step, and carries grab bars plus room to turn a wheelchair. Any Garden City event open to the public should include one, and a site with a worker who uses a chair needs one too.
A weekend already fits our three-day ranges, so Friday to Sunday is the normal measure. Expect $199–$349 for a standard unit, $300–$400 for a deluxe flushing model, and $150–$250 for a handwashing station. Your account manager will confirm the drop window and the pickup day.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will check the crew count against the Michigan rule, flag anything the City will charge for, and give you a clear number.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
