in Magna
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals in Magna, Utah, for construction work along the old Main Street and the newer subdivisions spreading east, for events at Magna Regional Park and the Empress Theater, and for crews working the mining and industrial ground under the Oquirrh Mountains. Magna sits at the far west edge of the Salt Lake Valley, with the Great Salt Lake just to the north, and it is far enough out that delivery planning matters more here than in the central valley.
Magna pricing follows the usual pattern of rental length, unit count, service frequency and model. What is genuinely different in Magna is the permit counter. Magna does not run its own public works or engineering desk. A district does it instead, and knowing that before you call saves a wasted morning.
Rental duration leads the quote. A short Magna job takes a weekly rate. A Magna site that runs a season takes a monthly one, and the monthly rate is where the value is once the job passes a few weeks.
Service frequency is next. Weekly service suits a small Magna crew. Twenty or more workers, or a unit standing near food at a Magna event, needs two visits a week.
Distance is a real cost in Magna in a way it is not in Murray or Midvale. Magna is the western end of the valley service area, and a single unit going out on its own is a longer round trip than the same unit going to a central valley site. Two or more units on one Magna delivery reduces the per unit cost noticeably.
Model choice completes the picture. Solar units are worth asking about for Magna sites out toward the lake or the mine benches where no temporary power exists.

Request a Quote NowFor a Magna event, one unit per fifty guests across about four hours is the starting figure, plus fifteen to twenty percent if alcohol is served.
Construction counts in Magna come from the federal worker sanitation standard, which Utah adopted intact. The Utah Occupational Safety and Health Division, which sits inside the Utah Labor Commission, took the federal construction rules by reference and left the sanitation numbers alone. The federal standard gives one toilet for a crew of twenty or fewer. From twenty to two hundred workers it is one toilet seat and one urinal per forty. Above two hundred it is one per fifty. Handwashing has to be available on every Magna site at any crew size.
A Magna event of a thousand or more people over two or more hours in a day, at a site not designed for that use, is a mass gathering under the Utah health rule, and the count comes from that rule's table. Alcohol adds forty percent. One handwashing station is required per ten portable toilets or part of ten.
Below that, Salt Lake County Health sets a lower trigger for the permit itself, which is covered in the next section. The Prime Dumpster porta potty calculator handles the ordinary estimate.
The Standard Porta Potty is the usual Magna choice, on a build site or at a private gathering. It is sealed and needs nothing connected.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty gives a level entry and a wide cabin, and it should be on the order for any Magna event open to the public. The state rule sets five percent of the required toilets as accessible, marked with the accessibility symbol, with one as the minimum.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty, with a foot flush and a clean water tank, suits a Magna wedding or reception. The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts the handbasin in the same cabin.
The Solar Porta Potty lights itself from a panel, which is the right answer for Magna ground with no power, and there is plenty of that here. The Handwashing Station stands alone beside food vendors. The Restroom Trailer brings separate stalls and plumbed water for a long Magna project or a formal event. The porta potty options page compares them, and your account manager will work out which suits your access.
Private property in Magna needs no permit. Public ground does, and here is where Magna works differently from almost every other city on the Wasatch Front.
Start with what Magna is now. Magna became a metro township in 2015 under Utah's municipal reorganization, and then, as the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District records on its own page for the community, "In 2024, H.B. 35. passed in the Utah Legislature and on May 1, 2024, Magna became a City." So Magna is a city today, governed by an elected council of five members, one of whom serves as mayor. The older metro township name is still in wide use, including in our own page address and at the waste district that bills Magna households, which is why you will see both.
Magna writes its own local law. It has its own municipal code, adopted by its own council. What Magna does not do is staff its own engineering and permit counter. Those municipal services are delivered under contract by the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District, a separate special district that also serves Kearns, Brighton, Copperton, Emigration Canyon, White City and the unincorporated county. The district's Engineering Division is "responsible for ... issuance of right-of-way, encroachment, and excavation permits", and its line for permit questions is 801-927-0358. So for a Magna street or park strip placement, the district is the office to call, not a Magna city hall counter.
For a Magna event the same district issues the permit, and the application asks for portable toilets by name. The district tells applicants to "ensure your staging map clearly shows all event setup areas, road impacts, first aid station, restrooms or porta potties and any equipment placement." That means the unit count and the unit positions have to be settled before the application goes in, not after. The district also requires a certificate of insurance with limits of one million dollars for injury or death to one person, two million for two or more people, and one million for property damage, and it exempts block parties, parades under a mile and school activities near the school from those insurance terms and fees.
Then the county layer. Salt Lake County Health requires a mass gathering permit when an event "lasts more than 2 hours and will be attended by more than 500 people", and states plainly that it is "required in addition to any municipal permits required by the city where your event will take place". So it reaches a Magna event, not only the unincorporated county. File thirty calendar days ahead, because waivers are not granted. Indoor events and outdoor venues built for large gatherings are generally outside it.
Your account manager will provide the unit detail the district's staging map needs and the hauler detail the county asks for.
Set the unit level and firm. Magna has a lot of open, wind exposed ground near the lake, and tie downs or anchors matter more here than in a sheltered valley suburb. The state mass gathering rule requires them at a regulated event in any case.
Allow the service truck about twenty five feet of straight clear approach. At a Magna event, keep units a hundred feet from food service and no more than three hundred feet from the crowd, which is what the state rule asks. Where a Magna site cannot manage both, the local health officer can grant an exemption from those distances.
Weekly servicing is standard in Magna: pump the tank, wash the interior, restock paper and hand sanitizer. Busier sites go twice weekly. At a regulated mass gathering, pumping runs at least every twenty four hours, units are serviced and removed within forty eight hours of the end, and sixteen consecutive days is the ceiling.
Waste goes by a hauler the local health department has permitted to a treatment works licensed to accept it. Utah's public places sanitation rule treats a chemical toilet in a portable restroom as a toilet fixture and requires any fixture the public uses to be kept clean, sanitary and in good repair. Your account manager builds the schedule so that holds.

A standard unit can usually be delivered to Magna in one to two business days, though Magna sits at the far end of the valley run so an early morning slot is harder to promise than in Murray or Taylorsville.
Your account manager will confirm the Magna delivery window once the site and access are known.
Prime Dumpster serves the western Salt Lake Valley around Magna, including West Valley City and Kearns to the southeast, Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake across the valley, North Salt Lake up the eastern shore, and Tooele over the pass to the southwest. Because Magna sits at the edge of the valley, a job here usually pairs best with another on the same western run.
A standard unit runs $199 to $349 and an accessible unit $200 to $300. Deluxe flushing and sink models are $300 to $400, solar units $500 to $600, handwashing stations $150 to $250, and restroom trailers from $1,500. Your account manager confirms the Magna figure against your period and service schedule.
Begin with one unit per fifty guests over roughly four hours, then add fifteen to twenty percent where alcohol is served. Two hundred guests in Magna is four units. Above a thousand guests for two or more hours, the Utah mass gathering table sets the number instead.
Utah applies the federal counts unchanged. One toilet covers a crew of twenty or fewer. From twenty to two hundred workers it is one toilet seat and one urinal per forty, and above two hundred one per fifty. Handwashing must be available on every Magna site whatever the crew size.
Weekly is the Magna standard, with a pump out, an interior wash and restocked supplies. Heavy use sites move to twice weekly. Under the Utah mass gathering rule, pumping happens at least every twenty four hours and units are serviced then removed within forty eight hours of the close.
No permit is needed on your own Magna property. For a street, sidewalk, park strip or other public right of way, the permission comes from the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District engineering desk rather than from a Magna city counter, because the district handles that function for Magna.
The accessible unit is much wider, enters at ground level without a step, and has grab bars and wheelchair turning space. The standard unit is narrower and easier to move onto rough Magna ground. Utah asks for five percent of required toilets to be accessible at a regulated event, with one as the floor.
A Magna weekend is quoted at the short term rate within the $199 to $349 standard range, covering delivery, a service visit and collection. Deluxe and accessible models are higher. Your account manager will price the weekend once the Magna address and the guest numbers are confirmed.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. For a Magna event, tell us the crowd and the hours as well, because both the district staging map and the county permit threshold depend on those two numbers.
Your account manager will sort the unit count, the servicing pattern, the district and county contacts and the delivery timing, so a Magna booking is complete before the first permit is filed.
