At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Taylorsville, Utah, the Salt Lake County city that sits between Redwood Road and the Jordan River on the west side of the valley. Construction here is mostly infill and replacement rather than greenfield work: commercial rebuilds along the main corridors, apartment and townhome projects, roof and addition work through the older neighborhoods. Events run heavily through the warm half of the year, with city celebrations, park reservations, tournaments, reunions and receptions on private ground.
Utah is the most generous state in the country for anyone renting portable toilets, because it publishes a real event table instead of a vague adequacy test. It also has an arithmetic trap that catches almost everyone who reads the table for the first time, and Salt Lake County adds a permit that bites long before the state table engages. Both are worked through below.
Event hours move a Taylorsville quote more than event size does, and that is unusual. The state table is a grid of crowd against hours, and the hours column climbs steeply. A thousand people for four hours needs eight toilets. The same thousand people for ten hours needs thirteen. Lock the schedule before you lock the order.
Alcohol is the steepest single uplift anywhere on our books. Utah adds forty percent to the required toilet count when drinks are served at a gathering, so a beer garden decision is also an order decision. Settle it early rather than at the setup.
Service frequency is the third driver and it is written into the rules. Waste has to come out of every unit at least once every twenty four hours at a Utah mass gathering, so a multi-day festival is budgeted on daily pumping rather than one visit at the end. That is a schedule question as much as a price one, because the truck has to be able to reach the units.
Then the ordinary factors. Delivery and collection are the same work for a weekend as for a year, so a longer booking spreads them thinner. Summer heat in the valley burns through odor control faster than spring. And a site reachable from Redwood Road is a shorter service run than one tucked behind a closed street.

Request a Quote NowUtah's temporary mass gathering rules carry a published table, and it engages at a thousand or more people continuing two or more hours a day. Working figures, read off that table:
Now the trap, and it is the thing batches get wrong. For an event running longer than ten hours, the count is not the ten hour figure. The rule says to add the ten hour number to the number for the hours above ten. So a twelve hour day at a thousand people is the ten hour figure of thirteen plus the two hour figure of five, which comes to eighteen toilets. At two thousand people it is twenty five plus six, which comes to thirty one. Add alcohol to the first of those and eighteen becomes twenty six after rounding up. Nothing else in the rule matters as much as getting that addition right, and the Utah Administrative Rules site publishes the table itself.
Three more state requirements belong in the plan. At least four drinking water stations are required, with one more for each additional five hundred people above a thousand. Units have to sit at least a hundred feet from any food service and no more than three hundred feet from the activity, secured with tie-downs against wind. And the operator has to contract with a liquid waste hauler permitted by the local health department under the state's liquid waste rules, which means our permit status is part of your compliance rather than just our paperwork. At the end, every unit has to be serviced and then removed within forty eight hours. Each day of violation counts separately, and a violator is liable for the health department's abatement costs.
Job sites are far simpler. Utah runs its own workplace safety plan, but it adopts the federal construction standards by reference and its unique construction rules cover roofing, cranes, asphalt mixing and chutes, not sanitation. So a Taylorsville crew uses the federal worker table in three steps: one facility for twenty or fewer, one toilet seat and one urinal per forty workers above twenty, then one of each per fifty from two hundred workers. Washing facilities with soap, drying and either tepid or hot and cold running water apply separately on every site. Both sit in the federal worker sanitation rule, and the Prime Dumpster calculator will check either number with you.
The Standard Porta Potty is what the Utah table counts, and it is the unit on nearly every Taylorsville job site and private party.
An ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is required by percentage here, not by recommendation. Five percent of the required toilets have to be accessible with a floor of one, so a thirty unit festival is ordering two of them at least. The flat entry, wider cabin and grab bars are what make it count.
A Handwashing Station is also counted by ratio, at one per ten toilets, so the two lines have to be planned together. A guest facing Taylorsville date leans toward the Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty, which flushes with clean bowl water, or the Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink with the basin built inside. A Solar Porta Potty lights a canyon trailhead or a lot with no power. A Restroom Trailer with private climate controlled stalls suits a Salt Lake valley wedding in July. Our porta potty options page puts the whole range in one view.
On your own Taylorsville property, no city permit covers the unit. A cabin on a driveway, behind a fence or inside a job site boundary is fine, provided it stays within the property line, clear of the sidewalk, and on ground firm enough for a loaded service truck.
Events are where the two layers meet, and the answer is cleaner than it looks. Salt Lake County Health Department requires a mass gathering permit for any event lasting more than two hours and attended by more than five hundred people, and it says that permit is needed in addition to any city permits. The state count table only engages at a thousand people. So they do not contradict each other. The county is the permit trigger and the state owns the number, and there is a real gap in between: a seven hundred person Taylorsville festival running three hours needs the county permit while the state table has not engaged at all, which leaves the count to you and your account manager. Above a thousand people both apply and the state table sets the figure. The county asks for the application at least thirty days ahead to avoid a late fee, and states plainly that fees apply to all gatherings regardless of the sponsoring organization and that waivers are not granted. Indoor events and purpose-built outdoor venues such as stadiums are generally outside it. Start with the Salt Lake County Health Department special events office on 385-468-3845.
A city street or sidewalk position is a separate question and should be agreed before you count on it. Taylorsville's own published street provisions deal with road classifications, grades and utility poles rather than with placed objects, and no published route covers setting a cabin in the right of way, so treat a curbside position as needing written confirmation from the city at 2600 West Taylorsville Boulevard. An unpublished administrative route may well exist alongside what is printed.
Utah writes the placement rules for you at a gathering, so use them as the site plan brief. Keep units at least a hundred feet from food service, no further than three hundred feet from where people actually are, and tied down against the canyon wind that comes through the valley in the afternoon. Beyond that, choose firm level ground, keep the door swinging clear of walking routes, and leave the service truck a straight pull alongside, because daily pumping only works if the truck can reach the unit.
Servicing at a Taylorsville mass gathering means waste out at least every twenty four hours, more often if use demands it, and each unit serviced and sanitized as needed to stay in sanitary condition. On a construction site weekly is the normal cycle, moving to twice weekly in summer or on a large crew. Every visit empties the tank, washes the cabin, adds fresh odor control and restocks paper.
Where the waste goes closes the loop. Collected waste has to be disposed of at a wastewater treatment facility under state and local law, never to ground, and the hauler moving it needs a local health department permit. That is why the rule puts a duty on the event operator to contract with a permitted hauler in the first place. Your account manager will put our permit details and the service dates in your file so the county has them if it asks.

Most standard Taylorsville orders are on site within a day or two. Summer weekends and the city celebration season are the tight stretch across the whole valley.
Our Taylorsville trucks cover the west side of the Salt Lake valley and the Jordan River corridor, reaching Kearns, Bennion, West Valley City, Murray, Midvale and Holladay, alongside the Utah porta potty service areas linked below.
A standard unit in Taylorsville is quoted at $199 to $349, an accessible unit at $200 to $300, and a deluxe flushing or sink unit at $300 to $400. Solar cabins are $500 to $600 and handwashing stations $150 to $250, while a restroom trailer for a Salt Lake valley reception opens at $1,500 with servicing priced beside it.
Utah's table starts at a thousand people for two or more hours. A thousand guests over four hours needs eight toilets, over ten hours thirteen, and a twelve hour day adds the two hour figure on top for eighteen. Alcohol adds forty percent. Below a thousand, your account manager sets the number.
Utah adopts the federal construction standards, so a Taylorsville site uses the federal table: one facility up to twenty workers, then one toilet seat and one urinal per forty, and from two hundred workers one of each per fifty. Soap and running water in a washing facility is a separate duty on every Utah site.
At a Utah mass gathering, waste has to come out at least every twenty four hours. On a construction site a weekly visit is the norm, rising in summer or on a large crew. Each visit empties the tank, washes the cabin, adds fresh odor control and restocks paper and sanitizer.
No. A unit inside your own Taylorsville property line needs no city permit. Keep it behind your own line, off the walk, and on valley ground that will carry a service truck. The permit question starts with a position in the street, or with a gathering over five hundred people running more than two hours.
A standard cabin is the compact unit the Utah table counts. The accessible cabin is wider, has nothing to step over at the door, carries grab bars and leaves the turning circle a wheelchair needs. Utah requires five percent of your units to be accessible, with at least one at every gathering.
A Taylorsville weekend is quoted from the standard $199 to $349 figures above. The trip out and the trip back are one job for two days or two seasons, so a short valley hold tends to sit nearer the top of that range. Your account manager will confirm it against your dates and hours.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. Give us the start and finish times too, because the Utah table stacks past ten hours and that one detail changes the whole order.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
