Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Murray
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Murray, Utah, and the Salt Lake Valley towns that press in on every side of it. Construction crews reworking the old Fireclay and smelter ground, contractors on the hospital campuses along Vine Street, summer events at Murray Park, and weekend work on tight infill lots all keep portable toilets moving here.
Your price turns on the kind of unit, how many you take, how long you keep them, and how often a truck comes back. Below you will find current ranges, how to size your order, which Murray office to call about public ground, and how quickly we can get units to you.
Those ranges are for a standard three-day rental. A few Murray details push your own number around inside them.
Rental length counts for the most. A Saturday event and a three-day weekend usually cost about the same, so there is no saving in a one-day booking. Job sites run on longer cycles, which suits a build that will sit for a season.
Service visits are the next lever. Every visit pumps the tank, washes the unit down, and restocks it. A packed Murray Park weekend in July, or a crew working through a heat spell, can justify a second visit in the same week.
Access matters more here than people expect. A unit on a paved lot off State Street is quick to drop and quick to service. A unit behind a fence on a cramped infill lot, or down a gravel track by the Jordan River, takes the driver longer. If food vendors are coming, budget for handwashing stations beside the food as well, because Utah counts those separately from the toilets.

Request a Quote NowStart with headcount and hours, then adjust for alcohol and weather.
Utah's event rule is stricter than the rough guide in three ways worth knowing before you book. Alcohol adds a flat 40 percent to the required count, not 15. You need a working handwashing station for every ten toilets, stocked with soap, water and single use towels. And the units have to sit at least 100 feet from any food service and no more than 300 feet from the crowd they serve, which quietly decides where they can go on a tight site.
Try our porta potty calculator for a first pass, then let your account manager check it against the rule that applies to your event.
Think about who is using the unit and for how long. Every option is side by side on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty covers most Murray work: a toilet, a urinal, paper and sanitizer, built to take a beating on a job site.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty has ground-level entry, a wide door, grab bars and turning room inside. Any event open to the public needs at least one.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty feels closer to a real restroom, which is what you want for a wedding reception or a company party.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap and mirror inside the unit. It is a good fit at family events and anywhere near food.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan on solar power, which helps on evening events and on sites with no power hooked up yet.
The Handwashing Station carries fresh water, soap and towels. Utah's event rule counts these separately, so plan them alongside the toilets rather than instead of them.
The Restroom Trailer brings several stalls, running water and climate control for weddings and corporate events.
Still weighing it up? Describe your guest list or your crew to your account manager and they will put the mix together.
On private ground, usually not. A unit in your own yard, on a job site lot or behind a business in Murray does not need a city permit. Public ground is a different story.
Streets, park strips and sidewalks: anything placed in the Murray right of way needs an excavation or encroachment permit from the Engineering Office at 4646 South 500 West. The fee deposit is $200.00 for unpaved right of way and encroachment, and $250.00 where asphalt, concrete or paved right of way is involved. The city also expects a state license and a $10,000 bond from whoever works in the right of way.
Events: Murray requires a special event permit for anything that uses or affects public facilities or public streets, and the city says plainly that holding one without a permit is unlawful. Applications go to the City Recorder's Office at 10 East 4800 South, Room 155, three weeks before your date. Call 801-264-2660 with questions. The city may add a support fee to cover extra police, traffic control, park maintenance and cleanup. A block party also needs signed consent from every neighbor whose driveway access you are blocking.
Big gatherings: once you expect 1,000 people for two or more hours a day, you also need a mass gathering permit from the Salt Lake County Health Department, filed at least 30 days out and before you advertise. Reach them at 385-468-4100.
Food vendors: every vendor at your event needs their own temporary food permit from the county, even a restaurant that already holds a permanent one, and even if the food is free. That permit brings its own handwashing requirements for the booth.
Not sure which of those apply to your spot? Your account manager can point you at the right desk before anything gets delivered.
Where you put the unit decides how well it works all week.
Set units on firm, level ground with a clear path for a service truck. Watch for low branches and parked cars on Murray's older, narrow streets. Keep units well away from wells, irrigation ditches and storm drains that run to the Jordan River. On a job site, keep them within a short walk of the work so your crew is not losing ten minutes each trip.
At an event, Utah's rule does the deciding for you: at least 100 feet from food service and no closer than that, and no more than 300 feet from the crowd. Where a site is too tight to manage both, the county health officer can allow an exception, so ask before you plan around it.
Most rentals get one service visit a week. The driver pumps the tank, cleans and sanitizes the inside, and restocks paper, soap and sanitizer.
The truck that does it is permitted ground up by the county. A liquid waste hauler working in Murray has to hold a Salt Lake County waste hauler permit, which means an approved written safety plan, the right insurance, an annual inspection and a permit placard carried on the truck itself. The bureau that issues those permits is in Murray, at 788 East Woodoak Lane on 5380 South. From the truck, the waste goes to a treatment plant that accepts it. Murray City is a member of the Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility on Central Valley Road, which treats the valley's sewage and turns the solids into compost. Your account manager can confirm your service schedule and where your waste is headed.

Most Murray orders go out within 24 to 48 hours. Three to five days gives us room to match the right units to the job. For a summer wedding, a park event or anything on a holiday weekend, book several weeks out, because the whole valley competes for the same inventory in June and July.
A few things speed the whole thing up:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Murray and the communities packed around it, including Midvale, Holladay, Millcreek, South Salt Lake, Taylorsville, Cottonwood Heights, Kearns and West Valley City. Whether you are working an infill lot near Fireclay, setting up along the Jordan River Parkway, or running an event at Murray Park, we build delivery, service and pickup around your dates.
A standard porta potty in Murray averages $199–$349, and an ADA-compliant unit averages $200–$300. Deluxe units run $300–$400, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. Those are three-day ranges. Your own number depends on unit count, rental length and service frequency, and your account manager confirms it on the quote call.
For a backyard party, plan 1 unit per 50 guests over about four hours. Once you cross 1,000 people for two hours or more, Utah sets the count from a state table instead. Alcohol adds 40 percent under that rule, and you need one handwashing station for every ten toilets.
Federal worker-safety rules govern Utah job sites: 1 toilet for a crew of 20 or fewer, then 1 toilet and 1 urinal for every 40 workers. Utah's own health rules cover work camps with housing, not ordinary sites. Place units near the work and plan a weekly visit. Your account manager will size it.
Once a week is the normal schedule. The driver pumps the tank, washes and sanitizes the interior, and restocks paper, soap and sanitizer. Big crowds, large crews and Salt Lake Valley summer heat all argue for more visits. Your account manager can set the rhythm around your busiest days.
Usually not. A unit on your own lot, yard or job site in Murray needs no city permit. You do need one once it sits in the street, the park strip or any public right of way, and events on public ground need a separate city permit. Your account manager can help you find the right office.
A standard unit suits one person stepping in and out. An ADA unit adds ground-level entry, a wider door, grab bars and enough floor to turn a wheelchair. Public events need accessible units in every group of toilets. Job sites used only by a crew are exempt from that requirement.
A standard unit averages $199–$349, and weekend rentals are normally priced across three days. One Saturday usually costs close to the full weekend, so take the three days. Deluxe units and restroom trailers sit higher. Your account manager will confirm your weekend price and the delivery window.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will match the units to your headcount, line the service visits up with your busy days, and give you a firm number on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
