Home Areas We Service Porta Potty Rental in New York

Areas We Service
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across 56 New York cities, from Brooklyn and Long Island up through the Hudson Valley to Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. We set up units for construction sites of every size, for weddings, block parties, and other events, and for emergency needs like a burst water main or storm cleanup.
What you pay comes down to a few choices. How many units you need, which type you pick, how long they stay, and how often our crew services them all shape the quote. Getting a truck to your spot matters too, whether that's a tight Queens side street or a farm road in the Finger Lakes.
Below, you'll find price ranges, a simple way to count units, when New York asks for a permit, and the state health and waste rules behind every rental.

Every rental includes drop-off, cleaning visits while the units are in use, and pickup at the end. These details move your total up or down: - Rental length: A party or festival is usually booked as a weekend, and one day tends to cost close to the same. A job site is billed in 28-day cycles, which suits long builds. - Number of units: Each extra unit adds to the bill. The goal is enough units to keep lines short without paying for ones nobody uses. - Service visits: Our crew pumps the tank, scrubs the inside, and refills paper and sanitizer on each visit. Heavy use means more visits, and each one costs extra. - Delivery distance and site access: A flat driveway near the road is quick. A rooftop staging area, a back lot behind a locked fence, or a spot with no legal place for the truck to stop takes longer. - Unit type and add-ons: Flushing units, sinks, solar lighting, and restroom trailers cost more than a standard unit. Handwashing stations are priced separately.
A few New York points can change the plan. In New York City and the closer suburbs, curb space is scarce, so the drop spot may need to be arranged ahead of time. Upstate, winter jobs need a cleared path so the service truck can reach the units after a snowfall. And if your event is big enough to need a state health permit, the restroom count becomes part of that review.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager can go through each point with you and price the setup around your dates, headcount, and address.

If the unit sits on private land, like your yard, a driveway, or a fenced construction lot, you usually won't need a permit. Once it goes on a street, sidewalk, park, or other public ground, the owner of that space has to approve it.
New York has no single portable toilet permit. The office depends on the spot:
Since a village street can meet a state route at the same corner, the exact address decides which office you call. Your account manager can track down the right contact before your delivery date.
Start with how many people will be there and for how long. These are the counts we plan around: - Events: 1 unit for every 50 guests over about four hours. If drinks are flowing, add 15 to 20 percent. - Construction sites: Federal worker-safety rules require at least 1 toilet when the crew is 20 people or fewer. Past 20 workers, plan on 1 toilet and 1 urinal for every 40. - Accessible units: For public events, include at least 1 accessible unit in each group, which works out to about 1 in every 20. - Emergencies: For storm or flood response, plan on 1 unit for every 10 relief workers.
Long days, summer heat, and food service all fill tanks faster than you might expect. Try our porta potty calculator for a first estimate, and your account manager will check it against your site.

New York's rules for portable toilets mostly cover accessibility, food safety, big crowds, and where the waste ends up. - Accessible units: Under the federal ADA standards, when portable toilets are grouped for public use, 5 percent of each group must be accessible and marked with the wheelchair symbol. Units set out only for a construction crew are exempt. - Food stands: The New York State Department of Health sends temporary food permits through the local health department, and New York City has its own rules. State rules say toilets serving a food stand need warm running water, soap, and paper towels so workers can wash up. A handwashing station with warm water, or a deluxe unit with a sink, can help vendors meet that. - Big public events: For events likely to draw 5,000 or more people at one time, the state health permit must be applied for at least 30 days out, alongside a medical plan. Planning your restroom count early keeps that application moving. - Waste handling: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation requires anyone hauling portable toilet waste to hold a waste transporter permit. The permit number goes on both sides and the rear of each truck, and the waste can only go to a facility approved to take it. - Job sites: Federal worker-safety rules set the minimum toilet count for construction crews, and units should sit close enough that workers don't lose time walking.
If your rental involves a public crowd, food vendors, or a long build, your Prime Dumpster account manager can confirm what applies and plan the units to match.

Standard porta potties average $199–$349 per unit, and ADA-compliant units average $200–$300. Deluxe flushing units and units with a sink run $300–$400, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. The number of units, the rental length, and the service schedule set your final total, which your account manager confirms in a free quote.
A good starting point is 1 unit per 50 guests for an event of about four hours. Serving beer or wine? Add 15 to 20 percent. All-day events and hot weather call for more units or an extra cleaning visit. Public events should also include at least one accessible unit in each group.
Usually not on private property. On a state highway, you need a NYSDOT highway work permit. On a city, town, or village street, sidewalk, or park, the local government decides. Public events drawing 5,000 or more people also need a state health permit. Your account manager can point you to the right office.
Once a week is typical for a standard rental. Each visit includes pumping the tank, cleaning the unit, and restocking paper and sanitizer. A large crew, a packed event, or a heat wave can call for more frequent visits. Your account manager builds a schedule around how hard the units will be used.
Yes, if the public will use your units. Federal rules ask for 5 percent of each group of portable toilets to be accessible, with at least one in every group. Units used only by a construction crew don't have to meet this rule. Your account manager can help you choose the right mix.
For a job site, a few days' notice usually works, and delivery often comes within 24 to 48 hours. Book several weeks ahead for summer weddings, festivals, and holiday weekends. Large public events need their state health permit filed at least 30 days out, so plan restrooms early.
