Augusta is one of the few cities on our list that owns and operates its own landfill, and it accepts construction and demolition waste by name. The Richmond County Municipal Solid Waste Landfill at 4330 Deans Bridge Road, Blythe, GA 30805 is run by the consolidated government's Environmental Services Department and holds a Subtitle D permit from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. The number is 706-592-3200.
It is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., for all customers, and closes on Independence Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. For a container customer in south Augusta the haul is short, which keeps the delivery and pickup side of your quote down.
The City describes what it takes in detail. Construction and demolition waste covers wood, brick, concrete, metal, wallboard, insulation and other non-hazardous building materials. Inert waste is a separate and cheaper class covering soil, concrete, cured asphalt, rock, brick, yard trimmings, stumps, limbs, logs and untreated unpainted lumber. Recycling is accepted at no charge.
That split is the practical lesson. A demolition job that produces a slab and a pile of brick should not mix them with the drywall and carpet, because the masonry on its own is charged in the cheaper class. Your account manager can plan the container order around it and will confirm the destination and current rate before delivery.
