Ordinary household and construction debris is welcome. The restrictions come from Georgia law and from what the Dougherty County Landfill turns away at the gate.
Georgia keeps yard trimmings out of lined landfills. Leaves, grass, brush, shrub and tree prunings, and old Christmas trees all have to be separated from regular trash and composted, chipped, or mulched instead. Land-clearing material such as trees and stumps is treated differently and is not covered by that ban, so ask before you load a mix of both.
The county landfill also refuses herbicides, pesticides, gasoline, oils, batteries, and tires with the rims still on. It takes no hazardous waste and no medical waste at all.
That means the usual suspects stay out of your container: paint, solvents, fuel, antifreeze, pool chemicals, propane tanks, and anything wet. Asbestos is accepted only on weekday afternoons with approval and a day of notice, so it never belongs in a general debris load.
Give your account manager a heads-up about tires, appliances, or any restricted material, and they will sort out where it should go instead.
