Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty rentals throughout Zion, Illinois, for construction and demolition work along the Sheridan Road corridor and the old power station ground, for industrial jobs on the west side, and for events held at Shiloh Park and along the lakefront beside Illinois Beach State Park. Zion's wide platted grid makes delivery straightforward in a way that older and narrower Lake County towns do not, and that shows up in how quickly a cabin can be on site.
Five things move a Zion price: how many cabins, how long they stay, how often they are serviced, which models you take, and how close a truck can get to them. Below are the city's own code position, the Lake County situation stated plainly, the federal crew table and the Illinois servicing standard that governs every cabin in the state.
Illinois writes the content of a service visit into law, and that is the single most useful thing to understand before comparing two Zion quotes. After each pumping the full interior is cleaned and sanitized, and the state enumerates it: urinal, seat, counters and shelves, tank, walls, floor, door and ceiling, plus the outer face of the door and the handle. Two physically separated sets of cleaning equipment are required unless a power washer is used.
Sanitizer sits at every cabin and is refilled at each pumping. A defective cabin is repaired or withdrawn from service by locking or removing it. The people doing the work hold a state business license and each technician is separately state certified, with certification lapsing at the end of June each year and penalties reaching the business and the individual.
Past that, the ordinary levers apply. A lakefront festival is a weekend order; an industrial demolition is a monthly one. Crew or crowd size sets the number. Model mix shapes the guest experience. And access matters, since Illinois requires the service truck to reach what it is emptying, and Zion's open street layout usually makes that easy.

Illinois has an approved worker safety plan, and its own published coverage statement confines that plan to state and local government workers while confirming that federal standards apply to private sector employers in the state. The federal construction table runs in three steps for a private Zion crew: one facility to twenty workers, a toilet seat and a urinal per forty above twenty, then one per fifty from two hundred.
A City of Zion crew or a park district crew falls the other side of that line. Illinois OSHA, inside the state Department of Labor, has taken the federal construction standards over whole and enforces them for state and local government employers, adding only a recordkeeping rule of its own. The count does not change; the inspector does.
Handwashing comes with an Illinois ratio and an Illinois distance, and the choice is the customer's. In Zion the state default is sanitizer at each cabin, refilled every pumping. Instead of that refilling, a single portable handwashing unit with soap and single-use towels may serve up to five cabins provided it stands within twenty feet of them. At a Shiloh Park event, five to one with a twenty-foot rule is far simpler to supervise than sanitizer at twenty doors.
For events Illinois sets no attendance ratio and Zion adds none. The test is adequacy: enough cabins for the expected crowd, serviced to stay sanitary, with the duty to add units falling on the employer, property owner or event coordinator and the breach written as the property owner's. On city park ground that puts the exposure on the city as landowner, which is worth raising early. Prime Dumpster's porta potty calculator gives a first estimate before your account manager sets the count.
The Standard Porta Potty is the everyday cabin for Zion trades crews and informal gatherings, needing no connections.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty has a flat threshold, interior grab bars and turning space for a chair. One belongs in any Zion order open to the public.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty adds a foot pump and fresh water tank, which is what a wedding or a guest-facing company day calls for.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts the basin inside the cabin, handy on a Zion industrial site with no sensible spot for a second piece of equipment.
The Solar Porta Potty lights its own interior, which matters for an evening lakefront booking where power is a long way off.
The Handwashing Station is the unit the Illinois five to one allowance turns on, and it is required as soon as food is served.
The Restroom Trailer is the step up for weddings, company events and sites running for months. Our porta potty options page lists the full range we arrange across Lake County.
On private ground in Zion no permit attaches to the cabin itself, which covers most of the work we arrange in the city.
The city's own code was read and it carries no portable toilet rule. Zion publishes its municipal code through a code library we can read, and four chapters bearing on portable toilets were pulled in full: health and sanitation, solid waste, streets and sidewalks, and buildings. Across them the words portable toilet, portable sanitation and chemical toilet appear nowhere. The one "toilet" hit in the solid waste chapter is a list of bulky household items needing a special collection, which is a different subject entirely. So Zion has written no construction sanitation duty, no placement geometry and no service interval into city law, and that is a tested negative rather than an unchecked gap.
City ground remains a separate approval. A street, an alley, a parkway or a sidewalk in Zion goes through the city first, and the streets chapter carries a general prohibition on obstructing a public way. Treat a curbside position as unconfirmed until the city has agreed it.
Lake County is the one county in this group that could not be opened at all, and saying so matters. The county's own site refused every automated request, on both trust stores and both hostnames, and the county health department host refused as well. Lake County is not a client of either code publisher we can read. So there may be a Lake County event or construction requirement that is not set out here, and the county is the authority on it. Note separately that Round Lake Beach, elsewhere in Lake County, keeps a disposal prohibition inside its health nuisance list that reaches a private way, so a Lake County municipality is capable of writing this layer even though we cannot confirm the county itself does.
Illinois Beach State Park is a different landlord again. Anything placed on state park ground answers to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources rather than to the city, and that is a separate conversation your account manager can help you open.
Illinois puts the licensing on the supplier, not on a Zion customer. The Illinois Department of Public Health licenses Portable Sanitation Businesses and certifies the technicians who service the cabins.
Stand Zion cabins on firm, level ground. Zion's generous lot widths and alley access mean there is usually a genuine choice of position, which is a luxury in older Lake County towns.
Keep the Zion approach clear, and say when gates open and who holds the key. The Illinois requirement that a service truck reach the cabins it services carries legal weight, so a reachable cabin is in everyone's interest.
Hold Zion cabins clear of food service and drinking water. Where food is served take a handwashing station rather than relying on sanitizer, and set the units downwind of the route guests will walk. On the lakefront the prevailing wind off the water is worth thinking about when you choose the spot.
Disposal out of Zion is controlled from collection onward. Illinois does not permit the contents of a portable toilet to be applied to land, and the waste must reach an approved receiving point. That chain runs through a licensed partner and your account manager can document it on request.
A Zion construction site generally runs weekly. A busy lakefront or Shiloh Park weekend wants a daily visit. Illinois fixes no interval of its own, only the duty to keep every cabin sanitary and free of odors.

Zion sits at the north end of our Lake County runs, so standard cabins usually reach the city within a day or two, helped by a street grid built for easy turning.
Prime Dumpster covers northern Lake County on shared routes through Zion. Waukegan is seven miles south, Gurnee eight miles southwest, North Chicago ten miles south, Antioch thirteen miles west, Libertyville thirteen miles south and Grayslake thirteen miles southwest. These are longer runs than the Chicagoland average, so coordinating two sites onto one visit is worth more here than it is further south.
A standard cabin in Zion prices at $199 to $349 and an accessible one at $200 to $300. In Zion flushing and sink cabins run $300 to $400, solar $500 to $600, a washing station $150 to $250 and a restroom trailer from $1,500. Your account manager checks the figure against your Zion dates.
Illinois publishes no attendance ratio and Zion's code adds none, so the count is a planning judgment against the state adequacy test. We size it from expected attendance, the hours, whether alcohol is served and the layout, then your account manager commits to a figure.
One facility covers a Zion crew of twenty or fewer. Above twenty, add a seat and a urinal per forty Zion workers, and from two hundred one per fifty. Handwashing is federal nationwide, with a narrow exception where a mobile crew has nearby facilities readily available.
Weekly on most Zion construction sites and daily at a busy lakefront event. Illinois wants a Zion cabin cleaned and sanitized right through after each pumping: seat, urinal, counters, shelves, tank, walls, floor, door, ceiling and outer handle. Your account manager sets the pattern.
No permit attaches to the cabin on private ground in Zion, and the city code we read carries no portable toilet rule at all. A cabin on a city street, parkway or sidewalk is a separate approval, because Zion's streets chapter bars obstructing a public way.
An accessible Zion cabin is wider, trades the step for a level sill, carries grab bars and leaves a wheelchair room to turn. A standard Zion cabin has none of it. One accessible unit is the minimum at any Zion event the public can attend.
A two day Zion booking on a standard cabin sits inside the $199 to $349 range, with delivery, collection and a service visit normally included. Flushing cabins and trailers cost more and book out first across the summer. Your account manager prices the Zion dates.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will set the count, pair handwashing stations at five to one, confirm the landowner on public or park ground and put the Illinois servicing standard in writing.
A single Prime Dumpster account manager carries a Zion order from the first count through to collection, including the city and state park contacts where a site needs them.
