Grayslake, Illinois is a charming town situated in the northern part of Lake County. An oasis of sorts for the inhabitants, it offers an atmosphere where people can feel right at home with its friendly and welcoming environment. Its rich history dates back to 1835 when Captain Stephen Mack settled along Nippersink Creek and established what would later become known as Grayslake.
Today, this small village has grown into a vibrant community that boasts attractions such as the Millenium Trail, the downtown shopping district, numerous parks, and recreational facilities including an aquatic center, golf course, and nature preserves. Alongside these modern amenities are historical landmarks from days gone by like the Waukegan-North Chicago Railroad Depot which was built in 1911 or Almond Schoolhouse located on Washington Street since 1862. Each one offers insight into life during different eras throughout time.
