Green does not own a landfill, and neither does Summit County. Summit County Public Health, which inspects the sites, states that it currently inspects three active construction and demolition debris landfills or processing facilities and three active solid waste transfer facilities in the county. It does not publish their names, and the construction sites serving this area are run by companies rather than by a public body, so we do not name a receiving site on a page like this one. Your account manager tells you exactly where your container is going and what the charge is based on before the truck is dispatched.
What the City does run is a drop-off site of its own, and it is genuinely useful on a landscaping or clean-wood job. The City of Green Recycling Center is at 5383 Massillon Road, Green, OH 44720, and the City's recycling page confirms that Green residents may drop off recyclable items and yard waste there with proof of residency. It takes branches, brush, leaves, limbs and grass clippings, along with aluminum cans, scrap metal, paper, cardboard, glass and plastic containers numbered one through seven. Residents can also request untreated mulch from the site free of charge.
Its hours change three times a year, which catches people out. From January through April it opens Tuesdays from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. From May through November it opens Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In December it reverts to the winter pattern, and it closes on government holidays.
For general household trash, Green runs residential collection under a City contract rather than with its own trucks, and the City will confirm how that arrangement sits alongside a temporary container for a construction job. Your account manager raises that with the City where it matters.
