Alma has no landfill, no transfer station and no public drop-off for construction material. The Town's own containers are for residents and residential property owners only, with vehicle identification stickers, and the Town's definition of household garbage specifically leaves out construction materials such as steel, concrete, asphalt, rock, sand, gravel, dry wall, carpet and brick. Park County operates no landfill either.
Most roll-off loads from Alma therefore travel north over Hoosier Pass to the Summit County Resource Allocation Park at 639 Landfill Road, Dillon, CO 80435, which the county describes as publicly owned and operated and as the only landfill in Summit County. It is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon, closed Sunday, and the gatehouse number is 970-668-4290.
Two of that facility's rules shape how the load is packed. Every customer must stop at the scale, and every load must be tarped or held down by its own weight, with a double charge applied to an uncovered load. We cover loads as a matter of course, and your account manager will confirm the destination and the current rate before your container is delivered.
A handful of small private transfer stations sit closer, along US 285 and Colorado 9 in Park County, but they are company-run drop sites rather than public facilities and they are not set up for project-sized loads.
