Ordinary construction and cleanout debris is fine. The limits come from Indiana disposal rules and from what the receiving site will accept.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, used oil and asbestos all stay out. So do compressed gas cylinders, ammunition and anything radioactive.
Appliances, water heaters, air conditioners and freezers are kept out as well, along with televisions, monitors, computers, copiers and printers. The City's own service will not take appliances, batteries, household hazardous waste or latex paint either, and points residents to the Lake County Solid Waste Management District for those.
Whole tires and medical waste are refused at the transfer stations that serve this area, so they need their own arrangements.
