Ordinary building and household debris is welcome. Indiana draws the line at a short list of materials that a municipal landfill is not allowed to bury, and that list decides what you can load.
Keep out hazardous waste, untreated medical waste, and certain older electrical equipment. Whole tires are barred statewide, so they have to go to a tire handler instead. Lead acid batteries and mercury switches are out. So are fridges, freezers, and air conditioners that still hold refrigerant, along with asbestos material that has not been handled under the air rules. Liquid waste, paint, solvents, and fuel are never allowed.
Good news for remodels: construction and demolition debris is expressly on the accepted side in Indiana, so framing, drywall, roofing, flooring, and cabinets are all fine.
One local habit is worth copying. City rules keep rocks, brick, dirt, and ashes out of containers that hold other trash, and they ask that anything wet be drained first. Sorting that way also keeps your weight predictable.
