Most building and household debris loads fine. The limits come from Indiana law and from the destination landfill's permit.
Indiana requires every load to reach a facility the state has permitted for that kind of waste, and open dumping and open burning are both illegal. Landfills in Indiana also cannot accept whole tires, so tires need to be cut or routed to a recycler.
Indiana's electronics rule is broader than most people expect. Televisions, monitors, computers, tablets, e-readers, printers, keyboards, DVD players, cable and satellite boxes, cameras, music players and portable navigation units cannot be thrown away by households, schools or small businesses. Pull all of it out before the container is loaded.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, used oil, pesticides, automotive fluids and asbestos stay out of every container we deliver. Appliances holding refrigerant need the gas recovered first.
The City is firm about its own services too. Its waste guidelines bar construction and demolition material, concrete, dirt, sod, rock, pavers, cement block, large metal pieces, tree limbs, tires and electronics from heavy trash pickup, and they charge $75.00 for the sticker a refrigerant appliance needs. Ask your account manager about anything unusual before it goes in.
